Another upset victory for :NGR today as well. They beat :ARG by 23 points in their exhibition game.

It’s objectively good for the sport if the US just doesn’t waltz to easy gold medals all the time.

It's not 1992 or 1996 anymore. USA decided not to send their strongest teams for the best of 20 years now and these games are no longer blowouts.

The world caught up with USA. So many great Europeans in the NBA now. Doncic and Giannis are maybe 2 best players in the world, they are not American

what will happen if USA will somehow fail to qualify for the gold medal match ? NBC ordered the M Basketball to be played the morning Japan time, many hours before the bronze medal game, will they just change it to the usual schedule then ?

Obviously there no chance USA will miss the basketball final, was just more a hypothetical question

NBC will order FIBA/IOC to cancel the gold medal game. who cares about the rest of the world. no USA, no final.

I dont think that it's such an absurd thing to suggest.   Yes USA is missing booker, Holliday and Middleton but losing to Nigeria and Australia? Finishing 7th in the world cup? This is not a good team.   It's no longer a team of Jordan, magic,  bird that won every game by 30.   And not the one of lebron, kobe and wade.   This is a good group of players that im not sure can succeed as a team.   Coach K was a great coach for all that ego.  Is pop? It's been long time since he did anything in San Antonio, never since Duncan retired.

Maybe USA are the main gold contenders.  But it won't be easy and won't surprise me if there won't be a gold at all
