Sweden has won their first 2 matches. If they tie against Netherland that will be 7 points.

Norway lost against Sweden but won against Netherlands. A win against Switzerland would mean 6 points! ;)

Yeah I read that you said "it would mean 7 points for Norway", but that was my mistake :p

And damn it Miedema, this was THE chance to get the Olympic ticket...

omg what a chance. :yikes:

She's called "the female Arjen Robben" for a reason other than her injuries apparently

Reminder, Robben in the 2010 World Cup Final:

I am shocked that you didnt qualify, what happened? Did your team play bad football, did you have any injuries or bad referee decisions?

I predicted Japan to win a medal in Rio, but now your elimination will improve our chances for a medal.

I think your team will come back strong at the next world championships, this is for sure not the end of glory for your womens football team.

Multiple reasons can be considered: defensive player Utsugi is injured, we didn't prepare well (we lack in playing actual match) , failure of generation change, and some media say there is awkward atmosphere in the team.

We are now u17 world champion. I hope the bright future will wait for us

The Netherlands had a huge chance, but just threw it away ...

Olympics without Japan and the Netherlands will be pretty boring. The swedish team is really boring, the dutch team at least showed some improvements in the last couple of years and they couldve surprised in Rio. I guess France is the only team that could stop USA from winning gold in Rio, but they always mess up in big games, so i am not very optimistic.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
