38,000 seats for swimming is going to be insane!

Other hugely important change - athletics will be in the first week and swimming will be in the second week. This is to acomodate the swimming venue also being used for the opening ceremony.

So, the first week is going to be even more crowded, given that athletics airs 6-7 hours a day, while swimming is around 3.5 hours. Just make it 3 full weeks for Pete's sake!

Highlights: Canoe slalom and softball in Oklahoma City, swimming in SoFi (Rams/Chargers stadium), basketball at new Clippers arena

Very interesting. After swimming in Lucas Oil they saw how awesome it can be and want to take it once step further

I love that some more fun sports head to Sepulveda Basin, 10 minutes away from my house.

It's good that gymnastics moved to Staples Center but now I hope volleyball moves to the forum. It's way too far in orange county. Though Honda center is a much better facility

If they moved equestrian to Temecula, why is tennis still in carson?? Indian wells is one of the biggest tennis stadiums in the world. Granted it's going to be hotter then hell there but Temecula is not far away from there

These all are sensible updates. Not surprised they released these plans while the swim trials are being held a Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. That was clearly a test run for swimming at SOFI and a very successful one. Diving will move to the original Olympic pool behind Memorial Coliseum. That venue will need a big renovation but it nicely clustered.

The other big change is Gymnastics at Staples/Crypto.com/Downtown Center. Gymnastics is the premier arena sport at the games so only right for it to move to the premier indoor venue in LA. The new Clippers arena is looking like a great place to watch Basketball, taking a lot of cues from European and college sports arena design to make things much more intimate.

Sepulveda switched from equestrian and shooting to skateboarding, archery, and BMX race and freestyle. Sucks that skateboardings not at Venice beach, but the Sepulveda Dam area has a good aesthetic for those kinds of sports between park and concrete. I wonder if they're allowed to put venues on or near the spillway?

I don't know what Oklahoma City did to get softball and slalom, but if they want it they can have it.

Assuming these changes remain the other events left without a venue are: Flag Football, Cricket, Lacrosse, Squash, Baseball, Sport Climbing, and Surfing. I would have thought one of Flag Football or Lacrosse would get into SOFI but looks like the stadium is fully booked for swimming. Rose Bowl now?

Here's the letter with full details and budget estimations:

Baseball is very obvious to dodger stadium.   Flag Football or Lacrosse can go to Carson after or before Rugby.   Or UCLA

Temecula is still about an hour and half drive (or more) away from Indian Wells, and that's if you take the mountain roads.

    • There are currently no grounds to consider Ghiotto as a favourite for the 5000. He has never won any important 5000 event while dominating the 10 km at the same time. Roest always won the same pattern, with Ghiotto losing all his advantage in the last 2 laps. We will see what the Italian's form will be like now and how tactically he wants to play it. I would also not forget about Eiter from Norway, who is much younger from these two and has a lot of room for development.
    • Some good news: Matt Gaetz is out from his position as attorney general, basically two months before he'd even start.
    • Maybe small but this is our worst performance at the European Championships since the post-Covid period and that's a fact. Germany and Norway surprised with their form here. However, only in Italy are things like this possible, such as changing the head coach of the team with less than two years to go before the home games...
    • In my opinion we can lose to Argentina, if it's 0-1 in a moment. This Davis Cup format is a lottery, especially with the shortened doubles. It's no coincidence that all the favorites can/will can be eliminated in the quarter-finals. The second thing is that Argentina has a very solid team: 2 players in the top 30 + a strong doubles. If you sure to will win with them, you would have to have 2 Sinners in great shape.
    • Both Edin and Retornaz at 6-3 just like rank 2 and 3. Just very small margins on h2h and DSC
    • Godun has been training in Italy and Hungary for over 2 years. It's strange that she didn't take a Hungarian passport. Our predecures are so long that it probably wouldn't make sense.
    • Our worst European Men's Championship in this cycle: no promotion to the 1/2. Retronaz has been in poor form since the beginning of the season. The change of the head coach in the Italian team last spring may have had an impact. Unfortunately, the closer to the games, the worse it gets for us and it should be better because we are the organizers.
    • Sport climbing qualification system: https://images.ifsc-climbing.org/ifsc/image/private/t_q_good/prd/a0ga7v4gwmamb3gxouni.pdf
    • Daniel Huber picked up a kee injury during training at Lillehammer.   Piotr Żyła will skip the season opener because of a knee injury too.
    • Agree with you on this. The only missed category was Long Track Speed Skating where Cornelius Kersten and Ellia Smeding have done a good job getting us involved in this event again after many years absence. He won a Bronze medal at 2023 worlds but both are realistically fringe contenders and main goal is to grow the sport here.   As for our general chances by British standards we tend to do well at the various world championships before a Winter Olympics to raise hopes and then several dont quite deliver when its time. Would prefer the reverse to happen where we save our best for 2026 and help boost our Winter sports growth.
