She probably doesn't have a surname, her name is simply Memo.

The naming system is strange in some Asian countries.

Correct, plus I think "unique naming system" is more suitable (It's the Western standard that names need surname/family name). Interestingly, his coach and many Indonesians always refer him as "La Memo". This might be caused by difference with his real name and the officially registered one in birth certificate.

We have EC only two weeks before qualification. For Serbia only M2- will participate because they have quota for Rio and I think that is very good for other crews.

Asian quotas have been confirmed. http://www.worldrowing.com/mm//Document/General/General/12/26/16/2016OlympicQualification_090516_Neutral.pdf

Thailand received reallocation in women's single sculls while Hong Kong got in women's light double sculls. Vietnam chose LW2x, South Korea W1x.

We also have Tripartites!

Libya and Vanuatu in men's and Togo in women's! Looks like the other women's quota might be unused.

RIP Canada's men's eights team. I really thought they would reverse their decision. We are also only sending 1 boat (men's quadruple sculls) to the final Olympic regatta.

Qualification for the single sculls and lightweight doubles sculls is for Europe (+CAN/USA/AUS/NZL) only while the others is for everyone.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
