Was chinese victory expected today?

Well, not really, but with the naturalized North-Americans their strength raised significantly, however I still expected the Danes to win this, so yeah this can be classified as a surprise.

Expected win for team China, a country with a rich ice hockey tradition.

:CHN legitimately has a long tradition in women's ice hockey. They finished fourth at the first Olympics and were continuously in the top division of the women's world championship from it's inception until 2008. Guo Hong was one of the great women's hockey players from the early years of the sport and you can make a reasonable case that she should be in the hockey hall of fame.

Smells like the Chinese NOC pulled the plug on women's hockey suddenly because their level started nosediving after Vancouver.

What the hell is going on? Does :CAN have a limit? Or their level uncreased so much or level of other teams has dropped? They defeated :SUI 12:1, team that won bronze in Sochi. Now, leading already 7:1 against Finland, bronze medalist from Pyeongchang and more than 20 mins to go ....

Literally nobody's surprised how strong Canada is. Our Team is in the same exact position where Men's national team was a few decades ago.

We're still searching for a way to beat Canada & US. In the same tournament.

Looks like I undervalued the goal difference for Canada. Not looking great for competition again if the best non-CAN/USA team gets blown out like that. Anyway, women's ice hockey is way too predictable to offer any excitement. Just skip the jazz to the mandatory CAN vs USA final.

I get the sneaking suspicion that the Canadian team handled the pandemic better than anybody else. Apparently every player worked super hard on their individual weaknesses during lockdown and came back better than before to the team’s first post-pandemic training camp. I doubt most other teams had the resources to do that.
