IOC shouldn't have expanded the tournament to 10 teams, there is no sign of improvement, and I say this as someone whose country would benefit from another increase because Hungary would likely be here in a 12 teams tournament. Even women's water polo is doing much, much better. 

To be honest it's just the gap between Canada/United States and the rest of the world. Like I wouldn't expect Switzerland/Finland/Russia to pull off this result against Germany or Hungary.

This isn't an upset at all. has been consistently better than over the entire quad. Japan has the capacity to beat any team in group B, and only is clearly better than them.

Brianna Decker is out for the remainder of the Olympics due to the injury she sustained against . The US (foolishly tbh) didn't bring a taxi squad, but they are looking at options for replacing Decker.
