  • 6 months later...

Gabija Galvydytė :LTU became the second Lithuanian athlete after Mykolas Alekna, to qualify to these championships through a qualifying mark.

4:00.71 in 1500m, nearly an NR.

Things to take away, she is actually a 800m runner, but she started running 1500m more and more and I can't say anymore where she has better potential.

Second thing, the qualifying marks have become insane lately, I remember the simpler times where more of our athletes would qualify directly, not only though rankings.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will run the 400 meters at the USATF Championships instead of the 400 meters hurdles.

As usual, the rule is that Totallympics Forum members should wear a Borat mankini for ease of recognition.

No Joe kovacs at the world championships :yikes:.

if he wins the Diamond League he can still grab a spot

in the meantime, at the Italian Nationals, Leo Fabbri threw a 22.82m (world leading mark) yesterday

the only other decent result came from Mattia Furlani in the men's Long Jump, he won with 8.26m, maybe also the 13.20 by Lorenzo Simonelli in the men's 110m HS it's worth a mention

nothing else...

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
