Any gold chances to come for Japan other than women's wrestling?

They'll be down hard from Tokyo otherwise. :wall:

Skateboarding, breaking and sport climbing, I think. But it's not as guaranteed as in women's wrestling.

I'm hoping that from team :POL somebody will sneak gold medal, otherwise it would be our worst result since London 1948, last time when we haven't any gold medal, and just one bronze overall, other Olympics with just one gold for us were Helsinki and Melbourne. Sunday should be decisive day for us, with medal chances in women's road race in cycling, women's 50m freestyle, two QF in boxing and men's hammer throw. I would want believe that it will be better day for us than recent three, but I prefer to stay negative.

The US with almost two times more real medals than "almost" ones. Not a bad Radio. On the other hand, Germany with a third...

It was expected, that they would be down, as they heavily exceeded expectations as hosts in 2021. They had 9 frickin Golds in judo alone in Tokyo, with also Golds in baseball, softball and karate, which are not on the program at all. Even the 5 in wrestling are going to be hard to equal. If they get to 15 i would consider it a success.

Yeah, judo has been a bit of a disappointment but the biggest letdown has been swimming. Japan isn't exactly known for their athletics, so they should seek for a good swimming programme to grab some medals there.

Day 9 Update

Right now, at the end of Day 9, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France:

:USA 19 gold medals (-1 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

:CHN 19 gold medals (-5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

:FRA 12 gold medals (+7 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:

:USA USA - 38 gold medals

:CHN China - 33 gold medals

:FRA France - 17 gold medals

Almost certain that the USA will finish first now.
France will probably not reach 20 gold medals.

Ireland won medals every single day this week! A streak of 7 days!!! That is just crazy times for us, something that may not be repeated again in future Olympics.
However now is the end of our streak for sure. This is going to be a much quieter week for us in general.

    • Playa del Carmen Elite16   Women’s Tournament Gold-  Carol Solberg/Rebecca Cavalcanti Silver-  Terese Cannon/Megan Kraft Bronze-  Kristen Nuss/Taryn Brasher   Shoutout to my new favourite pairing of Hüberli/Kernen, who have backed up their silver at the Yucatán Challenge by recording a quarterfinal finish here by defeating Olympic Champions  Duda/Ana Patricia in straight sets in the round of 12 (to be fair, they looked off all event long, but they also beat Nuss/Brasher). This team definitely has what it takes to be a top 5 team and consistently contending for medals. First time watching Kernen play, all I can say is how is she that good at only 19? She’s gonna be a star in the future.    Men’s Tournament Gold-  Noslen Diaz/Jorge Alayo  Silver-  Tomas Capogrosso/Nicolas Capogrosso  Bronze-  Chaim Schalk/James Shaw    Schalk/Shaw defeated Olympic champions  Ahman/Hellvig in the quarterfinals   Full Results

    • So I was watching a replay of China-Germany in between Canada’s game against Sweden and this one against Italy and… it seems like China cheated during it which could’ve been critical in them winning the match?    During the 1st end, Xu with his last rock had an easy hit for the single against three German stones. One of the sweepers for China (I can’t tell which one, this team is quite new to me) “accidentally” kicked their own stone, which redirected one of their own stones into the rings, and Germany only got the steal of 2. HIS FUCKING FOOT IS TOUCHING THE ROCK   Now after, Team Xu was claiming that the stone was picked (it was not) and Muskatewitz was arguing that it couldn’t possibly have been picked. China wouldn’t admit it, and they ended up winning the game 10-9. BOO.    Hope these cheaters don’t qualify for the Olympics.
    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
    • I'm in tears, finally I have access after months. For some reason I can only enter the site from my phone. Surely it must be a problem with my home internet connection.
    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
