Artistic Gymnastics at the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Has anyone been following the story of Mikayla Skinner and Simone Biles.  I was a bit worried while I like Simone her fans are very strong and it appears they are overreacting to Ms. Skinner.  Now Skinner and her family including a young child are gettingg death threats. She is begging Simone to do or say something.  II don't agree what Skinner has said often though I think a lot is mis understood but nonethess death threats on her and her family are not called for.  For every Simone Biles and Tom Daley there will be many olympians some with medals who will have very average jobs.   I see so many trying to stay rellvant.  Even sadly we  see gymnasts like Mary Lou Retton who with her perkiness and Olympic gold was a darling and now she struggles to make ends meet and has to use Go fund me to help with medical bills. Not all gold is lined with silver.

In the aftermath of Carlos Yulo’s double gold medals at the Paris Games, the issues concerning his relationship with his family has spilled over into the open.

If Skinner wants to get out of the hole the first thing she needs to do is stop digging.

True.  But   regardless threats are not only bullying and improper they are illegal. I don't like her comments but no one or their family should be threatened.

It's weird how these websites don't even care to translate what's said in Filipino, so if you're not bilingual, you're out of luck.

Here’s my rough translation of what he said in Tagalog.

‘My message to you, mom, is for us to heal, and move on. I forgave you a long time ago. I pray that you are all safe and in good health always.

‘Let us stop this and let us celebrate the achievements and sacrifice of our athletes at the Paris Olympics.’ the gymnast added.

Meanwhile, Carlos’ father Mark Andrew Yulo….

‘In God’s will, when Carlos returns, we will fix all this. This issue has been blown up by his bashers  for a long time now. A long time now.’ He told One Balita Pilipinas before.

’This thing can be fixed. We can talk this over. This is not a big problem.’ Mark added.

I’m not that good translating Tagalog into English but I hope this helps.

Obviously.

Just pointing out that Skinner said worse things about a whole array of US Gymnasts than was said about her by said gymnasts, so it’s a little rich for her to ask for help from them now.

Among the US women’s gymnasts she’s the bully. And it’s really inappropriate for her to ask for help from people she’s been nothing but disrespectful towards.

Obviously she shouldn’t be subject to threats.

BREAKING NEWS: According to Romanian media, TAS (Tribunal arbitral du sport) decided that the bronze medal of floor rutine should be awarded to Ana-Maria Barbosu!

More to follow soon

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

It seems Chiles' contestation was too late, so her initial score (13.666) is restored.

Sabrina Voinea's appeal was rejected; it seems we'll have to wait TAS's official statement to find out the reasons.

They have pretty much all their top guys on offense besides Altuve.   I did accidentally forget Cuba. Call me crazy but I'm placing them 7th behind Panama. Panama is my dark horse team for the tournament and Cuba isn't looking too pretty these days to be honest especially on offense although Canada, Panama and Cuba are all probably roughly in the same tier. Maybe Puerto Rico as well since they're missing their 3 best players on offense.
