Men’s repechage round 4 is also over, here who’s still in contention for the 6 individual quotas:

Main Round 4: :FRA:MEX:NZL:INA:PER:ESP:CAN:GBR:PUR:FRA:GER

Repechage Round 5: :MAR:ECU:CAN:GER:GBR:ESP:NED:CRC:POL:POR:CHI:VEN:ISR:POR:ESP

By my count that gives each surfer a 6/23 chance at an Olympic quota (but like above there’s implications for Spain/France as they can only secure a maximum of two quotas)

I believe we have our first Olympic qualifiers on the women's side:

:POR Yalanda Sequeira

:ESP Nadia Erostarbe

:PER Sol Aguirre

:BRA Taina Hinckel

The rest of the four qualifiers will come from the repechage.

State of play on Women's side:

:GBR,:ESPx2,:PER,:GER,:ISR,:MEX,:CHN,:JPN and :CRC are still in with a chance of earning the last four quotas.

:PER is in a heat with 3 qualified/ineligible surfers, so she's got quite the task if she wants to get through her heat.

:GER,:JPN and :CRC are in a heat together so at least one of them will make it through.

:ISR:ESP and :MEX are in a heat together so at least one of them will make it through. And it most likely will be one as Carissa Moore is in this heat and it's highly unlikely she doesn't make it through.

:GBR:ESP and :CHN are in a heat together so at least one of them will make it through. However, if Olin and Moore make it out of their heats, :PER fails to make it out of hers and the first :ESP makes it out of her heat, then the :ESP in this heat would effectively be classed as ineligible as :ESP would already have two qualifiers.

There's a strong chance we could have all 8 qualifiers done and dusted by tomorrow. There's also a chance we could have to go into Saturday's Repechage 7, and another chance we could have a tie in placings for the last 1 or 2 spots.

Good news for GBR -  two :GBR qualified surfers have made it to the Olympics.

Bad news - One will compete for :BRA and the other for :POR

As mentioned above the first four women’s quotas have been determined today.

:POR Yolanda Sequiera, :PER Sol Aguirre, :BRA Talina Hinckel, :ESP Nadia Erostarbe have all booked their tickets to Tahiti.

Rest of the tickets will be determined through repechage (R6 right now), between :GER:CRC:JPN:PER:ESP:MEX:ISR:CHN:ESP:GBR

By my count, that gives each surfer an 4/9 chance at an Olympic quota (there are some complications to the mix for surfers from Spain as they can only secure two quotas)

Spain is right now on the top of Women's Team Quota... followed quite close by Brazil. They have a huge chance to come from no surfers, to 3 surfers qualified haha

:ESP winning the team quota would be quite something, honestly.

    • Ya but the replacement is Pat Bondi, a choice that is only better in so far as Pat Bondi isn't credibly accused of having had sex with multiple underaged girls.   Also, you might recognize this name: Pete Hoekstra has been nominated to be the US ambasador to Canada.
    • Camila Giorgi has a new BF Ramiro Marra. Apparently he's some politician/journalist from Argentina. One of Milei's supporters dare I say? @LDOG@konig

    • But he beat Mouat, who seems to be almost unbeatable
    • Argentina has a really solid lineup, especially if they have prepared seriously for this event. Of course they don't have a champion like we do, but in this format it is enough to win 1 match to play the decisive doubles.
    • Today we must to beat Argentina. It looks like Sinner will have to win all the singles and doubles for us to defend the title. So far, the 2nd and 3rd favorites before the tournament have already been eliminated: Esp and USA.
