today in Vehbi Emre tournament in Turkey

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4QmxSVoKsd/

this is the semifinal between :IRI Mokhtari (blue) and :TUR Saricicek (red) . both guys obviously got disqualified after this and their QF losers wrestled instead for a place in the final. Saricicek had a huge huge surprise before this and beat the World Champion Makhmudov.

it was also our internal trials for the Olympics (first for the OQT) Mokhtari beat his main local opponent in the QF but after his disqualification the other guy took his chance and won the gold, which means he is going to the Asian OQT. You always benefit from someone else's dumb mistake :d

Russian national freestyle Championship finished tonight, this tournament always serves as their trials. as long as Russia concerns this team goes to the Olympics and World Champs (for non-Olympic weights) but of course it's not only up to them

57: Akhmad Idrisov

61: Zavur Uguev

65: Shamil Mamedov

70: Inalbek Sheriev

74: Anzor Zakuev

79: Magomed Magomaev

86: Ibragim Kadiev

92: Alan Bagaev

97: Abdulrashid Sadulaev

125: Abdulla Kurbanov

Zaurbek Sidakov (74) and Artur Naifonov (86) didn't wrestle here, apparently a bit injured, they will face the winner at some point (from what I heard in Hungary ranking series) same goes to Zavur Uguev, he wrestled at 61 to avoid cutting weight, but he is still a 57kg.

The Great Sadulaev almost got pinned in the final against Alikhan Zhabrailov, some may say he did get pinned (that was dubious to me) but pulled himself together and won the match 8-4.

65kg final was also amazing between Mamedov and 61kg World Champion Abbasgazhi Magomedov which ended up 8-7 in Mamedov's favor.

UWW simply pardoned everybody (almost everybody) involved in that Chamizo/Bayramov match

https://uww.org/article/uww-appeal-committee-concludes-investigation-olympic-qualification-match

the whole news is bullshit, during the World Qualifiers in Istanbul, the national wrestling federation of those refs had a meeting with the boss Lalovic and simply dictated him to do this and of course he did

to be honest I was surprised they did something against Cicioglu in first place. he was always a big part of this corrupt organization, they would never hurt one of their owns

Entry list for Budapest ranking series

https://uww.org/article/budapest-ranking-series-entry-list

I'm a bit disappointed with the entries in freestyle. in most weights it doesn't look like a quality tournament. Greco looks strong as usual in a European competition.

this is the last decent international event before the Olympics and most importantly the last ranking tournament. the Olympic seeding will be finalized after this. unlike most other sports, people don't care much about ranking here. simply because lots of better wrestlers (specially the Russians) are unseeded, therefore being the top seed doesn't give you much advantage unless you want to avoid certain wrestler before the final.

for us this is somehow our last round of trials (and I know some other countries are doing the same in some weights) in 60 and 67kg Greco both contenders are here battling each other for the Olympic spot. 77kg Greco is a bit different, both of these guys here were banned for disciplinary reasons, if any of them wins the gold here he will have a chance to face the guy who won the quota.

and while we are sending a young team in freestyle but the biggest name in our wrestling (and maybe our sport) Hassan Yazdani is here. this is his first competition after a shoulder surgery. the federation didn't set any clear goal for him but if he wrestles "good" here he will go to Paris. they just want to see if his shoulder can manage few not-so-hard matches or not.

Right then day 1 done, What a poor performance from Aman once again. He just go good draws. It's a pity he'll now go to Paris with this performance. I wish there were trials and Ravi could come in, as he's fully fit now. The only drawback was the fear of upset in women's wrestling there are some who wrestle well at domestic level but poor elsewhere. So Aman being one of the weakest wrestler in the squad I'm not exactly worried. Maybe Ravi missed a chance but that's ok. Anyone thinking Aman will medal would be a fool, he can lose and has lost to more than half of the qualified wrestlers at Paris by technical superiority. Should have kicked him out after Asian Olympic Qualifiers only, has to be our weakest male 57kg wrestler at Olympics since ages like 2004.

The freestyle competition is done, it's easy to calculate the Olympic seeding now

Hassan Yazdani had a pretty comfortable comeback to the mat, beating all of his 4 opponents by 10pts margin  his shoulder looked OK and with this performance he earned his spot on the Olympic team. I'm pretty sure his performance made lots of people happy here. without Taylor he will be favorite for the gold in Paris.

and this should be interesting for our Italian users

their favorite guy Turan Bayramov wrestled here and lost 5-0 to our junior team member :yikes::lol: and the refs were totally against Bayramov, hitting him twice with cautions + point for violating the rules :d

in that weight category Rzamberk Zhamalov won the gold and most probably made the Uzbekistan team for the Olympic over Abdurakhmanov (who won the quota) that means one more Russian mercenary wrestler in this weight

these kind of things only happen to our wrestlers :facepalm:he fought very hard for 6 minutes but then did this

Esmaeili was just not-celebrating-too-early away from making the Olympic team. per our weird trial system he had to beat the Olympic Champion Luis Orta to dethrone the other Olympic Champion Reza Geraei and make the team.

he still has a chance but now he has to win 3 matches to do that

    • And this is the final Medal Table fo the XX Bolivarian Games in
    • Agreed. But OTOH, the chances of a Male Team pursuit medal also seem rather slim at the moment, so why the hassle of dropping someone.
    • I have a sports database with millions of entries, which I then convert graphically on my Wikipedia sandbox.
    • Wouldn't be surprised to see the same this time. The men's 500m has basically on or with luck two medal chances, but certainly not three (semi-realistic) ones. With Beau Snellink for now not exactly on his way to an Olympic ticket and Patrick Roest still questionable, that might only leave Chris Huizinga, Jorrit Bergsma and Marcel Bosker, and that is not exactly a group one would want to have in the team pursuit.
    • 4 years ago the third Male 500 metres qualifier was dropped for a Team pursuit rider.
    • In the 5000 she probably won't (first alternate at the moment).      What are the chances of the matrix "prioritizing" a mTP squad ?
    • Looks like it. Not too surprising at all, it fits anticipated behaviour of contemporary forums about politics. To be more clear - suffering isnt something that bothers people on universal level. 50000 slain Christians in 14 years - not interested. But other atrocities around the world - bring it on baby.
