So, I am not to sure how to take this.  Russia might actually be getting s little more serious about doping, or it might simply be a sample size of how widespread the problem is.  It seems that 12 females from the Junior girls sprint, and 21 from the men's sprit at the Izhevsk Rifle All-Russian competition in December withdrew from the race when doping control officers from RUSADA showed up.

Another article noted: "The biathletes from Khanty-Mansiysk and Tyumen had the largest representation in these lists. Attention to this interesting fact was drawn by the winner of the World Ski Championships Nikolai Pankratov, who linked these events with the four-year disqualification of 20-year-old biathlete Victoria Konovalova."

The Estonian Championships getting some love as well.

Interesting.  I noticed that the athletes in these races were all representing Regions rather than clubs, so it’s possible that the root of the problem is at that level.  Also, I have seen that in several sports - cycling, swimming, athletics - that some, at least, Russians take a “Dope ‘em young, serve the ban” attitude.  There’s evidence that adults continue to get benefits from doping while they were under 20, even if the doping stops by that point.

These are the same Lithuanian Championships that I posted about, it's so messy, but Baltics always have them together, but call them differently.

They could just call it Baltic Championships then, but no

I just don't really get it why it's written that Raenkel was on top in the sprint when he was not even in top 10. Perhaps they didn't want to write that Lithuanians took the first three places and the best performing Estonians were not even popular names with Siimer and Heldna.

I thought as much, and thought the results were a little skewed as well.  Maybe they only counted their nations in the National Championship.

Some more is coming out about the mass withdrawal's in the Russian event.  The timeline is clearer here.

"In Tchaikovsky, after the women were summoned for doping control after the last sprint, all Khanty juniors withdrew. And the next day, in Izhevsk after the men were summoned for doping control, all Tyumen juniors withdrew."

    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
