Well, the Baltic Biathlon cup stage 1 is going to start next weekend, but yeah, there's not going to be too much hype around it :d

Edit: To elaborate more, on the 31st there's going to be a shooting competition as well as a sprint + cross country running whilst on the 1st of August there will be a sprint + roller ski

Will it be streamed anywhere?

So the IBU Exec Committee had a meeting this week with the following points of interest:

1.  "No calendar changes have been made so far. However, recognising that the situation is ever-changing and evolving the IBU is also planning for a number of alternative scenarios. One of which includes determining which venues have free capacities in the winter in order to host additional events as part of an alternative schedule with reduced travelling in case any governments restrictions require such changes."

2.  "The EB agreed to decide the schedule for each trimester of the season separately, with dates to be set on when each decision will be taken. The decision on the schedule for the first trimester – the events in November and December – is planned around the next Executive Board meeting end of September. Once the schedule for the trimester is confirmed, continued flexibility will be required as the situation can change rapidly."

Former :RUS biathlete Anton Shipulin (brother of :SVK gold star Anastasiya Kuzmina) is in hospital with a positive coronavirus test. He announced it through his instagram informing that his family members, wife Luiza and daughter Mira, are also ill.

All three were probably infected during their vacation in Sochi.

Well, good luck.  Unusual for someone so fit to get it bad enough to be hospitalised.

On a much lighter note, first biathlon competition in Lithuania today, a cross-country sprint. You can follow up on the results here:

The winners are pretty straightforward, though a DNS for Dombrovski and Kaukėnas did not even register.

Tomorrow it's going to be a rollerski sprint

All 4 Canada Nordic sports have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the possibility of combining all four into one organization.

Former International Biathlon Union (IBU) President Anders Besseberg and ex-secretary general Nicole Resch have so far refused to be interviewed by an independent group set up to investigate corruption allegations made against them.

Six years on and Rodchenkov claims Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle's doping case was a set up to make the Russian lab look competent.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
