vinipereira 3,055 Posted January 1 Author #173 Share Posted January 1 (edited) Christine Sinclair FOOTBALL 2023 was the farewell year from international competitions for many football players, but few have had the impact of Christine Sinclair. Having played over 20 years for Canada, she has participated in 6 FIFA World Cups and 4 Olympic Games, captaining the team to third-place finishes in 2012 and 2016 and a historic gold medal in 2020. Along with the fact that she is one of only three players to score at five World Cup editions, Sinclair is officially the all-time world leader in international goals scored by men or women, with 190 goals. Shortlisted for FIFA Women's Player of the Year a total of seven times, she was referred by college teammate Megan Rapinoe as "the best player to never win the award". Indeed, her legacy and a brilliant career more than justifies a place in our Hall of Fame. vinipereira 3,055 Posted January 1 Author #178 Share Posted January 1 Jason Smyth ATHLETICS Once described as the fastest para-athlete of all time, Jason Smyth will be remembered as the man who never lost a competitive para athletics event in his entire career, winning every 100m and 200m race he entered since the European Championships in 2005. In addition to his 8 gold medals at the World Championships, the Irish sprinter is a 6-time Paralympic champion, winning gold medals in four consecutive Games. He made history in 2010 as the first Paralympian to compete in an open European Championships, and also represented Northern Ireland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Competing in the T13 classification for the blind, he retires as the current Paralympic Champion in a event that he helped to redefine – currently also holding the world record in the 200m. Given his outstanding career, it is clear that Smyth's undeniable legacy will live on. Josh, Wumo and maestro
