To be fair Ebola is a bigger deal than this virus.

Although Ebola spread largely in an area where hygiene has not been invented yet. Everyone touching the dead and so on, even when they died from Ebola.

It's rather hard to compare this, Ebola, SARS etc. This seems to spread easier, but seems less fatal.

Yes and no. Ebola doesn’t spread nearly as easily.

True, but the lethal rate is a lot lower. It's pretty much like a bad flu (not exactly, they are different viruses after all), older/younger/immune compromised people should be concerned, everyone else not so much other than being very ill for a few days.

LOL , all the country is contaminated , china tries to hide the truth just like many countries

Anyway & certainly this virus was created into labs , they planed to exterminate 1/3 of people

You are right. China is forever doing a poor job in this. Last time when SARS broke in China from 2002 till 2003, China hide the truth and refused to let the whole world knew about how severe is the virus. So horrible. As the outcome of it so many innocent people in China died.

https://bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2020/01/29/bwf-statement-on-coronavirus-outbreak/

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) will continue to closely monitor implications related to the coronavirus outbreak in China and surrounding areas with all necessary health, safety and travel precautions currently being considered.

We also acknowledge today’s decisions to suspend flights to and from China in some countries and we are mindful of the complications this may have on the HSBC BWF World Tour, other BWF-sanctioned tournaments, and the badminton community in general.

Currently, no decision has yet been made on any change in status to the Lingshui China Masters 2020 scheduled to take place between 25 February to 1 March in Lingshui, China, but the BWF is working with local organisers and the Chinese Badminton Association to create greater clarity around any risks.

The BWF can also confirm that Badminton Asia is reviewing its flagship event, the 2020 Badminton Asia Championships to be staged in Wuhan, China, and the BWF will support Badminton Asia and the Chinese Badminton Association in this process. It is, however, too early at this time to make any final conclusions related to this event.

The 2020 Badminton Asia Championships falls within the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification window and is one of the last opportunities for athletes to qualify for the Olympics Games.

In this case, BWF is just yet another total failure. BWF refused to move tournaments out of China. So as the outcome so many countries have withdrawn their players from playing in tournaments held in China. Worse still the BAC which is scheduled to be held in Wuhan, China. BWF still say it is too early to make a decision and will still want this tournament to be held in Wuhan, China. No plans made to shift the tournament to other places. What kind of response is this? Is BWF purposely putting badminton players health at risk?

Because of the impossibility to host KHL 2019-20 games on PRC territory due to the coronavirus spread, and as requested by Kunlun Red Star and agreed by Dinamo Riga, the KHL decided to move the game #727 between Kunlun and Dinamo on Feb. 24 from Beijing to Novosibirsk. Game Kunlun vs. CSKA on Feb. 2 moved from Beijing to Moscow.

Previously there were some changes in minor ice-hockey leagues too — their games will be in Russia instead China. And looks like Kunlun will not play in China until the finish of the season.

Ebola spreads much easier, that’s why it’s actually quite difficult to contain outbreaks.

    • The NFL are pushing had to develop flag football in Australia in hopes of getting it included in 2032. I hope they fail tbh.   Single gender sports fail the gender equality requirement so netball is out unless they can rapidly fix their gender problem. World Netball not so long ago was refusing utterly to sanction men's international netball or even support the growth of men's netball so they kind of sabotaged themselves and are only changing courses out of self interest because Brisbane was awarded the Olympics.   It doesn't even make sense to propose Aussie rules given how poor the participation is outside of Australia.
    • - Great Britain Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Ski Sports   Alpine Skiing  (4) - The qualification system is a bit confusing, but from what I gather the team is Guaranteed 2 quotas (one for each gender), and then more are given for rankings. I can only see 1 female qualifying, but the men's team is a bit stronger, and could improve with some juniors coming through. I would say a baseline of 3, with a max of 5, 6 if things really improve.  Cross Country Skiing  (3) - The men's team came 11th in the world cup last year, and with some good results could move up to top 10 which would give 3 quotas, The women's team is non existant.  Ski Jumping  (0) - Nope Nordic Combined  (0) - Nope Freestyle Skiing  (6) - Based on last year rankings, the athletes are ranked: M Moguls (26/30), M Ski Cross (26/32), M Halfpipe (33/25), M Slopestyle (39+40/30) W Moguls (23+42/30), W Halfpipe (3/25), W Big Air (5/30), W Slopestyle (19+22/30)  Barring Injury , thats 2 quotas on the women's side, and I would predict 4 more, with a max team of 7 or 8. Snowboarding  (2) - W Halfpipe (34/25) is the only unknown quota, as both Charlotte Bankes and Mia Brookes should qualify easily. Huw Nightlingale may get a spot for the Mixed Team snowboard cross but I don't know how it works. Biathlon  (0) - Nope Ski Mountaineering  (0) - Nope     Skating Sports   Speed Skating  (2) - Cornelius Kersten and Elia Smelding should qualify, although they both haven't competed this year. Short Track Speed Skating  (2) - A team of 5 went to the world but only a couple could really qualify Figure Skating  (4) - Fear and Gibson should qualify, and the pair team is ranked 16th in the world with 19 qualifiers.      Sleigh Sports   Luge  (0) - Nope Skeleton  (6) - A full team is certainly on the cards, but with only ranking points from the next season counting a lot could change Bobsleigh  (6) - Brad Hall and Co should qualify for both 2 and 4 man. I doubt any more will qualify from the mens side. Adele Nicholl on the womens should also qualify in both events     Team Sports   Curling  (12) - Anything but a full team would be a dissapointment Ice Hockey  (0) - The men were the only chance       Total Optimistic Prediction  -  (60) Total Pessimistic Prediction  - (32)   Total Realistic Prediction  -  (47)

    • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
