    • Medal contenders for South Korea in 2026 winter olympics. Maybe bit less than before.  (In Beijing, 2G 5S 2B)   Short track skating 1~2 Gold , 4~5 total medals In Men's 1000m or 1500m, 23/24 Crystal Globe winner Ji-Won Park and other players would try to get 1 gold medal, against Canadian team (Dandjinou/Dubois) who would try to sweep the gold medals.  In Women's 1000m and/or 1500m, returned three-time olympic champion Min-Jeong Choi and recent Crystal Globe winner Gil-li Kim is one of the best gold medal contender, and would divide the medals with Netherlands,Belgium (Velzeboer, Schulting, Desmet) and USA team (Santos-Griswold,Stoddard).  Including 1~2 medals in each men/women discipline, 1~2 extra medals could come in relay. There are many variables in the relay, so cannot guess much here. Anyway 1~2 Gold, 1~2 Silver, 1~2 Bronze = total 4~5 medals would be reasonable rough guess totally.      Long track speed skating 1~2? medals : Women's 500m Min-Sun Kim (2024 World championship Silver medalist) and Men's Mass Start Jae-Won Chung (2022 Beijing Silver medalist) are the best medal prospects here.   Although Korea got numerous medals in late olympics (Pyeongchang, Beijing), that generation got older, and no significant new players rise, except those two.      Others with slight chances for top 3: total 1~2 medals  - Snowboarding-Halfpipe: latest WC winner (Men) Chaeun Lee Recently rise as a medal prospect. In women's halfpipe, 16 year old Ga-On Choi is also worth watching, won in 2nd world cup 23/24 season.  - Curling : possible 1 medal in Women's team. Not a concrete contender, but always have possibilities for semifinal and more.    - Skeleton : possible 1 medal in  Men's Skeleton for Seung-gi Jung, who is one of the rising players. 3rd in 2023 WC, etc.  - etc : Very small chance for Women's figure skating. But performance of players weren't good enough in this season.      Totally, 1~2 Gold, 6~8 total medals expected.
    • Great early breakdown. I agree with most of it, but I'll elaborate on three in particular:   Curling: I'm expecting a comeback after two very disappointing showings for Canada in Pyeongchang and Beijing. I think the national federation is taking it more seriously now that the world is catching up, especially in mixed doubles. I expect three medals, but a gold will be harder to come by.    Hockey: As usual, women will be expected to win a gold. It'll be exciting seeing the men have NHL players, but I don't even think Canada will be a gold favourite. We simply do not have a goaltender. We have a couple of low-to-mid choices, so unless someone rises up suddenly in the next year it'll be hard to fight for gold. McDavid will only be able to do so much. USA, on the other hand, will have a very complete team with excellent goaltending. Even if Russia competes, they are the favourite right now. But, anything is possible in a one game elimination series.    Short Track: This is currently our strongest team perhaps ever, which is surprising given how much stronger other countries have become recently (although the USA has dropped off the map almost completely). As you said, 3 is a minimum but as this team stands right now, they could run away with the medal table. However, short track is always unpredictable and anything can happen in the races.    I agree, high 20s for total medals, could even get into the 30s if the stars align. I just hope Canada wins more golds this time. 4 in Beijing (and only one individual) was a tragedy.

    • I think that I will be more happy with Serbia sending a larger delegation than 3, then we can maybe start talking about a placing better than 14th (our best result as Serbia)
    • Women Competitions   We are going to witness the clash of titans between and   in several bodyweights   Women -45 kg   1-      Won (entry 187 kg) gold medalist of Asian Ch with 192 kg and the world record holder when she became the champion of World cup 2024 (196 kg).  2-      Zhao (entry 179 kg)   her latest record was in -49 kg category when she claimed the Junior W ch title with 191 kg. 3-      Pham (entry 175 kg) her latest record in -45 kg category was back to 2019 when was the asian junior champion with 165 kg  4-      Garcia Rincon (entry 175 kg) bronze medalist in European ch 2024 (156 kg).  My guess goes for then :CHN,   the bronze will see potential rivalry between the above other two athletes & some others with lower entry weight such as the following 3 athletes with 170 kg entry: Pramonghkhol   Randafiarison    Bektas     Women -49 kg   Another clash between and is expected in this category too.  1-      Ri (entry 210 kg) Asian champion 2024 (220 kg) and the world record holder when she get the gold medal in world cup 2024 with 221 kg.  2-      Xiang (entry 205 kg) the 20 yrs old has no records on IWF website in this weight category.  The bronze will be between: Lin Cheng (entry 192 kg), 5 th in Asian ch 2024 with 187 kg Ramos (entry 190 kg) bronze medalist in Asian ch 2024 with 190 kg    Women -55 kg   Again and   are the main figures for gold here  1-      Kang (entry 225 kg), Asian champion 2024 with 227 kg and Asian game champion with 233 kg and world record holder by lifting 234 kg in world cup 2024 and claiming the gold medal  2-      Zhang (entry 215), the 19 yrs old girl has no records on IWF website in this weight category.  The bronze mainly would be between 3 athletes with 210 kg total entry: Chen , Ivzhenko & Grigoryan   Not far from them the 2 Colombians Moya & Galvis, both with 205 kg total entry     Women -59 kg   Three athletes are the main figures in this weight category: 1-      Kim (entry 235 kg), the   junior world record holder when she lifted 246 kg in Asian game 2022, also she is the Asian champion 2024 with 225 kg. 2-      Venegas (entry 235 kg), 4 th in Paris Olympics with 230 kg and pan American champion 2024 with 226 kg. 3-      Pei (entry 230 kg),   bronze medalist in world ch 2023 with 232 kg and 2nd in Asian ch 2023 with 236 kg. I don’t think Yodsarn , Beteyob   or Magistris would be able to surprise the audiences.    Two :GBR are competing in 59 kg category both will have entry of 198 kg: Gordon Brown, 7th in European ch 2024 with 200 kg Smith, 25th of Wch 2023with 203 kg. Expecting both to finish between 16th and 21st.   Women -64 kg   Two athletes from with total entry of 245 are the main contenders for gold and silver:  1-      Suk Ri, Asian champion 2024 with 253 kg, she lifted 260 kg when she got the gold medal in grand prix 2023 2-      Un Sim Rim, world cup 2024 winner with 258 kg and Asian game 2022 winner with 251 kg. The following three are fighting for a place on the podium: Li (entry 236 kg), Segura (entry 235 kg) and Usuga (entry 235 kg)    Davies (entry 226 kg), 5 th in Tokyo Olympics with 227 kg. expected to finish between 8th and 12th.    Women -71 kg   Three players are the main athletes in this category, mostly the order will be as follows: 1-      Reeves (entry 271 kg), Paris Olympic champion with 262 kg and world cup 2024 champion with 268 kg.  2-      Jong (entry 265 kg), she has no records in this weight category but she is the Asian champion 2024 in 76 kg weight category with 259 kg (her weight in this competition was 71.3 kg very close to the 71 kg weight category).  3-      Yang (entry 255 kg), winner of Asian ch 2022 with 228 kg.    Barton (entry 216 kg), the 34 years old athlete finished9th in 2024 European ch with 217 kg. expected to finish 20 th to 25th.   Women -76 kg   Returning back to vs challenges, the main two athletes competing for gold and both have entry of 265 kg are:  1-      Liao , she didn’t manage to put a total in Asian game in this weight category but she is the world record holder in 71 kg category by lifting a massive 273 kg in W ch 2023  2-      Song , Asian champion 2024 in 71 kg category by lifting 269 kg and Asian game winner by lifting 267 kg in the 76 kg category  Mostly the bronze would go for as they have 2 athletes:  Mendoza (entry 250 kg), bronze medalist in world cup 2024 with 240 kg Sanchez (entry 245 kg), her last record was back to 2014 in 63 kg weight category and since then not participated in major competitions.   Not far from them: Nicholson (entry 242 kg), Bedward (entry 241 kg) and Rogers (entry 240 kg)    Brown asked for a preliminary entry of 217 kg, she is the 5 th in Junior W Ch 2024 with 222 kg. expected to finish 16th to 20th.   Women -81 kg   Since Koanda , the Olympic champion and Dajomes   Olympic bronze medalist are not participating and Cikamatana 4 th in Paris Olympics moved to 87 kg weight category, the road is paved for to claim another medal in W Ch (why not gold) 1-      Sara Samir (entry 265 kg) Olympic runner up in Paris 2024 with 268 kg   and African champion in 2022, 2023 and 2024 in that weight category is the most popular figure to claim the gold medal. 2-      Amaro (entry 265 kg), 7 th in Paris Olympic with 240 kg and bronze medalist in Pan American ch 2024 with 243 kg. I don’t think she is able to lift the requested entry and would be surprised if she managed to get above 250 kg. 3-      Kim (entry 260 kg), she has no records in this weight category.  4-      Wu (entry 260 kg), she also has no records in this weight category.  5-      Su-hyeon Kim (entry 256 kg), Asian champion 2024 with 254 kg  6-      Iseul Kim    (entry 255 kg), bronze medalist in Asian ch with 238 kg and 6th in world cup 2024 with 255 kg. Most likely the podium will be and the two with unknown records from and     Women -87 kg   5 athletes are fighting for the top three positions: 1-      Cikamatana (entry 260 kg), 4 th in Paris Olympics in 81 kg category with 262 kg,  silver medalist in W ch 2022 in 87 weight category with 249 kg and bronze in 2023 in 81 kg category with 256 kg. 2-      Kim (entry 258 kg), runner up of world cup 2024 with 258 kg  3-      Chirinos Leon (entry 255 kg) Pan American champion 2024 with 240 kg.  4-      Rahma Ahmed (entry 250 kg) the 18 yrs old junior w ch 2024 with 240 kg  5-      Jabborova (entry 250 kg), 10 th in the open weight in Paris Olympic with 251 kg, she dropped her weight from 96 kg (during Olympics) to be – 87 kg in a very risky decision. Ngake is participating with 228 kg entry, the ex-Cameroonian has not participated in major competition since her bronze medal in London Olympics when she represented and lifted 246 kg in 75 kg weight category    Women +87 kg   Similar to the men open weight category, the world record holder here Wenwen is not participating leaving the floor for her fellow Chinese and others to get into the podium:  1-       Li (entry 300 kg), the 20 yrs old girl with no previous records in IWF website.  2-      Park (entry 296 kg), Silver medalist in Paris Olympics with 299 kg, Asian champion 2024 with 293 kg and world champion in 2023 with 289 kg.  3-      Campbell (entry 288 kg) Bronze medalist in Paris Olympics with 288 kg, Silver medalist in Tokyo 2020 with 283 kg and European champion 2024 with 263 kg.  4-      Son (entry 287 kg), runner up in Asian ch 2024 with 287 kg, runner up in Asian games with 283 kg and bronze medalist in world cup 2024 with 283 kg  5-      Theisen Lappen (entry 280 kg), 5 th in Paris Olympics with 274 kg and winner of grand prix 2023 with 283 kg. Campbell needs to do her best aiming to get the third position in this tough competition.

    • According to bookmakers Poland and Great Britain are the clear favorites in 1/2. Considering that Swiatek is playing here, it`s hard to belive that Poland will not win this. The Italians will have a difficult task tomorrow: to win 1 match in singles and reach the decisive doubles. Paolini has little chance in the Swiatek match, so a lot will depend on the match of the second players: Cocciaretto-Linette?
