Coventry confirming that Brisbane is going to have a smaller rooster of sports than LA

Considering that they are already building a venue for Baseball/softball and a planned venue for Cricket... I can see it them 2 being the ony "invited" sports

The only other one I could see sneak in potentially is squash.

Stuff that I'm worried about: modern pentathlon (it's probably just... gone tbh), eventing, Greco-roman wrestling, canoe slalom and, of course, lacrosse and flag football. If any "traditional" team sport is in danger it would likely be field hockey.

Yup... Greco-roman wrestling is on some thin, thin ice as well.

I also am thinking that canoe slalom might be in some danger too, they are really hammering home the cost of venues in this press conference.

Also looks like the IOC will no longer be doing host sports. Coventry is talking specifically about the IOC regaining control over the program and also shrinking the size of the program.

Wonder if walking will try and pivot to becoming a track event. Would take away the cost factor.

Why field hockey. Ira pretty popular in many countries. Rugby sevens is a lot more trouble outside of the games.

I do think that Lacrosse and Flag Football are the obvious goners. And we are going to lose Modern Pentathlon very likely too. Eventing is on the choping block also (and I wont be sad about it honestly). Canoe Slalom might survive Brisbane just for Jessica Fox, but it has his days counted too. Same thing for Surfing, it's safe in Australia but in 2036 I don't see it, sadly.

I don't think GrecoRoman would be gone cause it's balances Artistic Swimming/RG perfectly in M/F numbers.

Yes Squash could make it, and maybe Karate replacing Taekwondo (other one I see in sligth danger).

I don't see any traditional team sports going anywhere, also. I think they are all safe. Only thing that can take them out is if they want to make Cricket a core sport, then I migth worry
