Interesting video about Dakar 2022, seems like most the venues are already under construction or completed

The Youth Olympics encourages nations to use existing venues. Overall it looks good.

Nah, they have another objective... It's very hard for me explain it in English, but I will try.

China starts a massive founding in Africa and they have economical agreement with 53 African states (only South Africa is excluded) and it's part of the new silk road.

China gave without any problems money to the African states with a low interest rate (around 0) but they colonize and corrupt the African agricolture system. The biggest problem is that the Chinese population want eat different foods (Mao's time when the population was content with only rice are finished) so they start the agricultural policy of monoculture and buy African products at low price. Basically they destroy all African's chance to develope in agricolture and start a new colonization.

Welcome in the 2018, an amazing wold with too much geopolitical interests.

PS. (This is a simplification, I can't do more with my English :p)

Lets not forget the oil in some countries is extremely valuable to China, the development of projects also provides jobs for Chinese citizens etc.

  • 1 year later...

Looks like they may have split canoe sprint and slalom. Cycling also has a properly done event (only road and BMX freestyle though). Sport climbing only having bouldering is an interesting choice. Also beach wrestling?

Beach Wrestling is essentially glorified African wrestling. Makes sense to have closest thing to the national sport on the program. Look Senegalese wrestling. The crowds that come out to some of those events are insane.

Also worth noticing that it’s not actually Canoe Sprint, but Canoe Ocean Racing.

Not sure if it was the NOC or the biathlon federation (I assume the latter) that put him in the Livigno training 'world' with a former Italian biathlete as coach, but they can definitely also be blamed:  almost everyone involved in that shitshow got the motivation just sucked out of them by the methods and shitty atmosphere until they either retired or changed country

    • Lots of injuries, including often just pure bad-luck stuff like a fall from a set of stairs, illness, and of course the Sochi tragedy in 2014: one of her biathlon friends, young Julia Pieper, killed herself with a biathlon rifle early during the Olympics (she wasn't on the team, but was a training partner of both Preuss and Dahlmeier). Obviously a hard hit, which led to terrible Olympics for Preuss, with a DNF, awful results in her other individual races and a relay where she was the first runner for Germany, but fell early on, got snow in her rifle and broke a pole and ended up losing almost 3 minutes, which in turn resulted in Germany being off the podium for the first time ever.   After that came all the injuries and illness and everything. So glad to finally see her have her big individual global gold, that is so well deserved.
