Summer Olympic Games 2036 Bid Process

Recommended Posts

1  It should go to Germany

2 It won't go to Germany because awarding it to Germany on the centenery of the Berlin Olympics would be seen as a victory for the extreme right wing of politics.

3 India wants it to be seen as a victory for it within world sport

4 So does Qatar

5 Qatar has seen that its world cup was considered a success despite the problems concerning migrant workers

6 I want it to be London again but that is not realistic

7 After that I want it to be a German city but I don't think that is also realistic

8 An Indian city would be fine as long as it's better run that the Delhi Commonwealth Games

9 It will probably go to Qatar

2 cities with a lot of venues are Toronto and Madrid and they have never hosted Olympics either.

Istanbul as a compromise?

Istanbul would be great, it has the facilities, sporting merit and traditions, large scale of history and culture. I'd personally prefer Budapest or Germany, but Istanbul is in my backyard so to speak, so let's do it. :d

I'm happy with any host that isn't :QAT or, especially, :KSA.

Either :HUN Budapest or :TUR Istanbul would be a really intriguing choice (despite the less than ideal political climate there). :ESP Madrid would be a great and safe choice.

Any :GER bid would also be great, but 2036 is a really unfortunate aniversary. And lets be honnest, they would probably want to host some events in :ISR because of the aniversary and... that's a can of worms I'd rather we not open right now.

:IND will host the Olympics sooner or later, won't be mad if that time is 2036. I'm still bitter about the absolute disaster that Dehli 2010 was, but they should be ready for the Olympics by the 2030s.

Back in 2022 there were talks that Madrid :ESP was considering to bid for the 2036 Olympics, but later that year our NOC's president said in an interview that there was no chance for Madrid to get it because IOC preferred to explore other markets (i.e. India, Qatar or Arabia), so politicians decided not to go forward.

If Asia gets the 2036 Olympics :GER will probably be the front runner for 2040, but I think that Madrid and Budapest would also bid.

this doesnt make sense however because australia 2032 isnt a big or other market. Qatar also is a small market

Germany i think will not bid because they set their economy as a priority
