These world championships were not exactly a promotion for women's cycling, were they? Both the time trial and road race were really impressive by one person, making them both incredibly boring

Yeah this dominance is really exceptional. And the crazy thing is, Vos and Van der Breggen both seem capable of these kind of days too.

Sorry but if they didn't see this video immediately (it is not the TV footage that was shown yesterday  ...this is way worse) what could they do? Let it go?

It is not realistic to say that he and his team assumed that everything was ok having done this and it's absolutely not something that happens a million times without punishment like you wrote earlier. In a case like this a late DQ is still much better than no DQ at all

Well, these champs have been pretty horrible for the hosts. Van Vleuten & van der Breggen basically own the women's cycling these days.

50k to go and so far it's been 200 kilometers of really, really tough racing. The main victims of this battlefield so far are favourites (or at the very least serious outsiders) Philippe Gilbert, Remco Evenepoel, Alexey Lutsenko and last year's winner Alejandro Valverde are out.

 

Also some lesser outsiders like Diego Ulissi, Nairo Quintana, Richard Carapaz, Sam Bennett and Remi Cavagna are out.

Stefan Küng in the front after dropping Lawson Craddock, Mads Pedersen was absolutely flying and joined him, Mike Teunissen got there a bit later as well and Gianni Moscon is on his way.

Meanwhile the peloton is getting ever smaller with every passing kilometer basically, but the four main guys at the moment are all still there (P Sagan, Van Avermaet, Van der Poel and Alaphilippe).
