I know. After all, countries around the Tatras dominate in this sport :p.

So if Lena Teunissen will not qualify for the finals on Saturday, :COK will earn the quota ? :d

according to the documents we were looking at yesterday, no, as she still has the next european champs to save her quota before NED NOC reject it (if she makes the top 8 there, she matches the NED NOC criteria)...

still, with AUS and NZL already qualified, :COK will get their quota in any case at the Continental qualifier...

basically, it's a win-win situation for her...

Wegman already got a top 8 in World Cup though so now NED have a quota and an athlete who satisfied their criteria. But of course not being a medal contender she would bring shame upon her nation so the quota must be refused.

The second day of individual competition in La Seu d'Urgell has begun. At the beginning of the struggle C1 ladies, then K1 men.

so far, if we get rid of double starters who already qualified yesterday in women's K1 and can't get another quota place for their NOC, we have the perfect 11 Countries qualified to the Semifinals of the women's C1 after the 1st run...

if no other Nation qualifies through the 2nd run, the Olympic Qualification is done already with today's races...

Well, this looks like nice scenario. And I would be really for :CZE Quota. But I am pretty sure there will qualify more. COuntries. Look, there is no :SVK :SLO :UKR even 2 :CHN girls were quite close to top 30. I guess, there will be 2-3 countries in semi that will get unlucky.

Not necessarily. Remember that NOCs can choose OQ in C1 instead of K1 ;)

That's true. Currently in more sports you can actually choose to switch the Quota. Anyways, this decision usually comes later after the competition. Not right at the competition. So maybe the NOC might make such decision at the end of this year as earliest. Just my guess. But if course they cannot they quota of 2 boats in one category. And if NOC decides to change the quota, there would be probably some kinda re-allocation afterwards.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
