Artistic Gymnastics FIG World Championships 2019

It is not possible, Brazil is the unluckiest country in women's gymnastics, everything goes wrong, and when it works we are robbed.

Flavia and Nory were awesome.

Women's gymnastics is at one of the lowest points in history when it comes to judging. The US, Russia and China are always massively overscored, with the occasional country (Canada, Belgium and now Italy) getting fair results here and there (though Belgium has received scores much higher than their gymnasts deserved this year).

This is the first time since 1993 that neither China or Japan managed to win a gold medal. Very surprising so close to Tokyo.

It has been confirmed that Srbić suffered a partial tendon rupture on his wrist. It's not great, but it could have been worse apparently.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is it possible to rewatch the finals (mostly the apparatus finals) somewhere without spoilers? :p All-around would be fun too, but I'm a bit less interested in those.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
