very, very disappointing results for Italy...

we lost 1 Gold (M4X) and 1 Silver (M4-) medal from last year in the space of less than half an hour...and earlier we saw the epic fail of our Golden Pair from 2017...

we might have got even more Olympic quota than expected, but if it wasn't for the usual suspects (LM2X), we wouldn't get a single medal in the Olympic classes...

definitely not a good way to enter the Olympic Games next year...:nopompom:

you see, then, that you have raised a lot of quotas for the Olympics compared to us.

Why is (for example) the M4- called 'coxless four', and M4x called 'quadruple sculls', even though the quadruple sculls also is coxless? :p

Bigger question is how come we have both single and double paddle events. :p

but our target is 4 medals (at least 2 of them being Gold)...not just getting some Olympic quota places...

Rowing is one of our traditional sports, we must win medals, not just show up...

I think the medal table in olympic events after day 1 looks like this:

:NZL 2/1/0

:NED 1/2/1

:POL 1/2/0

:AUS 1/1/0

:CHN 1/0/0

:CRO 1/0/0

:IRL 1/0/0

:ITA 0/1/1

:ROU 0/1/0

:GBR 0/0/2

:CAN 0/0/1

:DEN 0/0/1

:GER 0/0/1

Edit: It is 1/2/1 for the Netherlands instead of 1/3/1.

The most important thing is winning the Olympic Games, you know if France has chances of winning other quotas for Tokyo?

it's only their fault if they were only second in their semifinal race...

and in any case, it wasn't a safe gold medal at all...maybe they were the favourites before the championship started, but they already lost once to Ireland also in perfect conditions like we had 2 days ago in the semis...today's race is only the logical consequence of that one:pope:

Yes, before the start of the competition this was considered a safe gold considering that they had been unbeaten the whole season. You have to ask yourself what happened here that they are suddenly beaten by 2 teams. Ireland even beat them comfortably and it is pretty suspicious that, as far as i can tell, the irish team only competed in one world cup. Athletics and cycling get the most heat concerning doping and thankfully it also seems to become a bigger topic in swimming, but there is absolutely no logical reason to think that rowing is any cleaner than those sports. I hope that someone will soon take a close look at the development of the Netherlands, China, Ireland, Poland and New Zealand (at least on the women's side). It makes absolutely no sense that GB, a country that completely dominated this sport just 7 years ago and has a bigger talents pool than for example the Netherlands, Ireland and New Zealand combined and Germany (who always used to be great in rowing too) are suddenly chanceless against a nation like the Netherlands. It is especially worrying because the Netherlands have also completely overtaken track cycling at the same time.

you could win 1 more quota in the men's double sculls (there are 5 more places for the 6 boats in the B Final tomorrow)...

then, there's always the European and the World qualification regatta next year to add some boats...

tomorrow, considering the catastrophic weather, we are going to finish last, but what is France afraid to call other boats?
