As of the end of December, Brazil are not in qualifying positions for Men's 60Kg or +100Kg. For the -60Kg class, it looks like Eric Takabatake is now fighting in the -66Kg division so Michel Augusto is the best place Brazilian with 206 points. He's about 200 points adrift of the 17th ranked nation. Augusto isn't listed as taking part in Grand Prix or Grand Slam events in January or February so he's likely to fall back a little over the next few weeks. In the +100Kg class, Rafael Silva is currently ranked 27 in the rankings and is outside of automatic qualification ranking. He is taking part in the Portugal Grand Prix and if he can finish 5th or above, should find himself moving into a qualifying position. On the women's side, Brazil are not currently qualifying in the -48Kg, or -70Kg weight classes The weakest weight class is -48Kg where they are currently ranked 45th for Alexia Nascimento and 48th with Amanda Lima. Both are around 300 points adrift of automatic qualification spot. Amanda Lima was taking part in Portugal Grand Prix but lost her first round match so won't have made much progress in closing the gap. in the -70Kg Maria Portela is currently ranked around 28th and is about 150 points short of the automatic qualifying spots. She isn't scheduled to compete in January or February so she could fall back in the rankings. My best guess at the moment is that Brazil likely to miss out on the Men's -60Kg class and the Women's -48Kg class. Topicmaster1010

Just some points that I would change if I had to make mine Boxing - Not sure if we will get 3 quotas with women, maybe one more in men's events, taking one off from women. Canoe Sprint - Maybe we get one or two quotas in other events. We got close to qualify a woman at Canoe event, and we took one Kayak in Tokyo. Road Cycling - I still think we will take one quota at men's event. We are very close to TOP 45, and it is going to be TOP 47 because of reallocations from France. Fencing - Nathalie in women's epee should appear here Handball - After the Worlds I think we have a chance to qualify both teams Modern Pentathlon - I am curious, where do you think these athletes will qualify? I am confident about Danilo Fagundes taking a quota for men, but the others, I have no idea. Taekwondo - So, it is impossible to take 3 quotas from Continental Competition, because all countries can send only two athletes per gender at those events. But the names are those. Weightlifting - Up this moment we are taking 3 women's quotas. But that's it, 2 or 3 athletes Wrestling - It's curious to see so many names in this sport. I think the female names are ok, but not sure about the men's names. Cesar Alvan is improving, so it is possible. In Greco-Roman, I would say only Soghonyan is a real contender. Keep this great job! I am pleased to say that I will be doing them again for Paris though not as often (because simulating 2,900 athletes is much easier than simulating 10,500 athletes). Over the last month, I've been gathering data from 2022 World Rankings and World Championships to try to see what each NOC team could look like in 2024. There are, however, a few things to note. Russia and Belarus are NOT INCLUDED in this simulation. Due to the current situation in Ukraine and a lack of participation by both countries, I have decided to exclude them. North Korea is also not in the simulation because I have no idea what's going on with them Refugee athletes aren't included either Tuvalu is currently projected with 0 athletes because there was no athlete that was unable to qualify in any sport under the simulation. If anyone has any idea what they could qualify in, please let me know. Internal qualification procedures (e.g. Netherlands, New Zealand) are not taken into account. Simulated universality eligible NOC's are marked with an * Unfortunately not every quota was able to be filled up. Some sports didn't have enough data to fill in all the quotas. Some sports had athletes take up multiple quotas. And then there is swimming where the IOC decided to make the qualifying standards so hard that after the final number of athletes was still 100 short of the maximum number of quotas. Despite the absence of Russia and Belarus, the quotas went down drastically from over 11,300 to 10,500. This means that we expect each NOC to have their team, on average, reduced by 8% of their 2020 size. In total, 113 teams had decreased in size, 25 stayed the same size, and 66 increased in size. Each team's change in size is shown next to the NOC name. So without further ado, let's get started. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. Topicmaster1010 2,343 Posted December 17, 2023 #50 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Hello everyone! You may or may not remember this thread from the beginning of the year. With 2023 winding down, the time has come to create an updated simulation based on 2023 results! There are a few questions I have that I wonder if anyone knows the answer of. 1. First things first, this time, I want to try to put myself in the shoes of some more strict NOC's and try to reject certain quotas that they normally would. Does anyone have any links to the selection policies for Netherlands and South Africa? I've already found the selection policy for New Zealand. Every other NOC I'm just going to accept all quotas. If there's any other potential quotas that could be rejected, please let me know. 2. Now that Russia and Belarus have been allowed entry, it has made things reeeeeeallly annoying to simulate. I was wondering if anyone knows if there's any sports federations that won't allow them to compete (or have certain limitations)? I know World Athletics is still banning them and World Aquatics is limiting to one athlete for both countries in swimming. Also, will Russia and Belarus be competing together as one NOC?
