Off the top of my head Slovakia can get 2 more in artistic swimming, 1 in golf, 1 in judo and maybe 1 in tennis. Plus maybe some people in swimming

No chances in Tennis unless some Zika virus will be found around Tokyo and like 60 % of players decline quotas :p we would normally have one qualified in Doubles, but since he will not have anyone to play with him we will be even forced to return the place  + watch out our synchro swimmers being kicked out by some Italian B team representing San Marino or so..and Judo ? who ? how ? :d

Ok, being serious for a moment, I expect we will have 40+ team in Tokyo for sure, we have now 29 qualified and probably will qualify 5-6 in athletics via ranking + 2 charity swimming quotas, these should be safe and hopefully we will find somewhere some 5 more qualified athletes in other sports

And Romana Gajdošová has moved into the last qualification spot in women's triathlon. @hckošice

yes, she is there since last week in Arzachena and still holding the place, well, lets hope miracles does not happen only in christmas and she will keep it also after this weekend last race.

Richard Varga was DSQ yesterday for a unbelievable mistake and thus the best swimmer in the circuit will very likely miss the games. This I guess sum up perfectly our Tokyo 2020 qualifying cycle :d

Currently Peter Zilka has a continental quota in -90kg.

Remember 100+ nations will qualify thanks to continental quotas (plus 20 more thanks to tripartite).

As a top 10 doubles player, Polasek is directly qualified and can choose any partner with a top 300 singles or doubles ranking, so why wouldn't they play?

And Igor Zelenay is conveniently a top 100 doubles player, so there are no eligibility issues here.

I hope we will be close to 90 athletes this year, but anyway it was nice for me to see that 2 athletes from the refugees team are currently coming from Israel, especially the one from the “Alleys runners “ Club , I could not even describe how they all try to take care of their athletes in Sports and outside of it, making sure they will feel welcomed and at home as much as possible

    • Of the top teams the world with traditions, only Portugal didn`t play in 3 World Cups in a row: 1986-2002 (1990, 1994 and 1998), but then fewer teams played in the World Cup than now. I don't really remember what caused the crisis in Portuguese football in the 1990s or how it was done with this later? Perhaps we should follow their example?
    • Well... If not qualifying for the World Cup for the third consecutive time isn't enough to bring about change in Italy, I can't imagine what will be.
    • Gravina is simply stupid and probably has some kind of hold over other important key figures in Italian football, since he was elected in 2024 with a majority of over 90% of the votes... I have a hard time imagining it any other way. Compared to him, even Carraro, Berlusconi and Moggi seem like nice and kind gentlemens   Some people believe that Calciopoli in 2006 began the decline of Italian football and that may be true. It only got worse from there, not counting a single accidental Euro 2021 win- something similar to Greece in 2004. In 2009 Roberto Baggio prepared a 900-page report on necessary reforms in Italian football, but the then-FIGC board tossed it into the trash bin. Now we see the consequences...
    • I thought our former football President was greedy, selfish, power hungry and delusional, but apparently he has an equal counterpart in Gravina. Some people just lack common decency.
    • Well, it's possible that Italians may be more bitter towards short track officials after the robbery they perpetrated against Sighel at the Olympics and therefore more willing to comment and criticize them, but it doesn't make the decision any less ridiculous.   Also, the fact we are Italians, and therefore used to the low standards of football refereeing, makes us especially qualified and trained to identify biased/crooked/incompetent judging
    • I think it was never in the history of our sport has there been anyone as brazen and stupid as Gravina. Before presidents would resign, or at least hide for a while, rather than go into a full-blow scandalous attitude with full larrogance and pride. I hope this idiot gets fired anyway, even if he doesn't resign.
