If only the :GBR platform lads had qualified in 3rd, they'd have taken silver

Only solace is that of the 4 synchro quotas, this should be one of the easier ones for GB to secure at Doha next year (all things being equal and barring any injuries)

I warned you!  😊

Can't complain too much as the Mexicans and Ukrainians both dived well and produced 95+ dives towards the end. Well done to them for performing so well under pressure.

Absolutely - the right teams won the quotas today. The lads can make it up by both securing individual quotas later in the week.

Ya, apparently the main motivation for him getting French citizenship was to make it easier to live in France post-Brexit. He was already living in France for quite a few years.

Yep, he's basically a cliff and high diver and didn't look particularly impressive on the 10m platform at the EG but I guess the French are grateful for his experience as they build their programme for Paris.

Even without Daley they've got stacks of depth on the 10m platform with Ben Cutmore, Matthew Dixon and Robbie Lee in addition to Mattie Lee and Noah Williams so they should get their quotas whether this year or next. GB has secured a full set of diving quotas at the last four Games so I'm sure they'd be very disappointed if they didn't do so again.

Poland 7th, maybe if France won't take host place we could fight for the last places at Olympics.

So China, Ukraine, Mexico (Q) next year for sure USA, Australia, UK + host, last place(Germany/Italy - for me less chances Poland/Malaysia)

Don't count out Canada. We had the World Championships bronze medalist last year in Wiens/Zsombar-Murray and would've been favorites for one of the quotas this year but Wiens got injured, and withdrew from the meet.

    • I'm all in favor of this and it was about time. Wrestling has become table tennis 2.0 and in some cases even worse. In European Championships from 20 wrestlers in a weight you were seeing 7-8 foreigners. Yes, it's mostly Russians, but there are also Ukrainians, Georgians, Cubans being naturalized.    I've said it numerous times, that i don't approve the tactic our federation started of naturalizing people left and right. Which actually wasn't paying off that much, until the Olympics. If it leads to worse results, than it's just a wakeup call for the destruction of our wrestling system (which has been evident for 15 years).

No bobsleigh yet, so I guess they will get double races with no skeleton later in the season.      There were two Asian Cup races on the Pyeongchang track last weekend, and another scheduled for tomorrow, so no excuses for poor performance, everybody should be used to it by now.     IBSF Bobsleigh & Skeleton - YouTube

    • So here we are....pre-season races ready to go.  Always important for the big teams to get some last minute promotions for the first trio of pre-Christmas World Cup races, or even for club skiers to get some kind of promotion into a professional training group.      races on Saturday and Sunday morning.  Usually these are globally free to air live, although you sometimes have to wander round a bit to find the right link.   Sport - NRK TV
    • Anyway, for those who were following this discussion a few weeks ago,  has an excellent chance of first-ever World Cup podiums, possibly even wins, this weekend.  Roche Silveira won and was second in two full-scale rehearsal races last weekend, and has two chances in Pyeonchang on Saturday and Sunday. Then Pinheiro Braathen has another chance in the Levi slalom on Sunday.
