A mixed day for :GBR. Valiant efforts from Dillon and Laydon-Dark but extremely poor judgment from Farmer in her heat to bow out after such a high score early on. Only 3 remain: Norman, Barton and Campbell. Norman has the best chance of the 3, but will need to reach repechage 9 to stand any chance of getting the quota. Barton and Campbell will most likely have to reach repechage 10 or 11 to claim the quota.

Forgive a stupid question, but Sky Brown has made noises about trying to reach the Games in surfing - is that cloud cookoo land?

Almost all of the quotas are awarded by name so she would have to compete at the 2024 Games. She's only competed in one event back during the 2021-22 season. Here's her profile.

She really enjoys surfing, and for what I could see, she has some skills for that.

But, at her young age and without participations on events, she cannot even be considered for :GBR team.

Maybe for LA, she might try compete in two sports. Especially because surfing will take place a bit far from skateboarding venue for this edition :p

There's about a week between events so she has time to travel :d, but yes surfing is more of a hobby for her instead of seriously competing

Olympic Qualification Summary after Day 5
Oceania: Paige Hareb :NZL pretty much has the women's quota secured, currently in R4 (Guaranteed T30), with Saffi Vette :NZL (Repechage 4) the only other surfer who can knock her out. On the men's side, Billy Stairmand :NZL pretty much has the men's quota secured, currently in R5 (Guaranteed T30), with Kehu Butler :NZL the only other surfer athlete (Repechage R5) that can knock him out.
Africa: Zoe Steyn :RSA and Sarah Baum :RSA are in contention for the women's quota (Repechage 4), but they need to advance to Repechage 6 (At least), to finish T30. On the men's side, all Teva Bouchouga :MAR  (Repechage 6) needs to do is not finish fourth, and he qualifies for the Olympics. Otherwise, we'll see a quota reallocation.
Europe: Uri Uziel :ISR is the only male surfer currently in the main round (R5) but with plenty more Europeans in repechage the quest for the Olympic quota is far from a guarantee. Stanley Norman :GBR (Repechage 5), Guilherme Ribeiro :POR (Repechage 5), Joan Duru :FRA (Repechage 5), Aritz Aranburu :ESP (Repechage 5), Dylan Groen :GER (Repechage 5), Edouardo Papa :ITA (Repechage 5), Gonzalo Gutierrez :ESP (Repechage 5), Kauili Vaast :FRA (Repechage 6), Maxime Huscenot :FRA (Repechage 6), Jesse Mendes :ITA (Repechage 6), and Frederico Morais :POR (Repechage 6) are all still in contention, with perhaps the strongest surfers coming from France and Portugal. On the women's side,  Rachel Presti :GER, Noah Klapp :GER, Pauline Ado :FRA, Tiara van der Huls :NED, Vahine Fierro :FRA, and Francisca Veselko :POR are the six surfers still competing in main round (R4), with Emily Gussoni :ITA, Garazi Sanchez :ESP, Indiana Ferri :ITA, Noa Lelior :ISR, Alys Barton :GBR, Lucy Campbell :GBR, Anat Lelior :ISR, Giada Legatti :ITA, Ariane Ochoa :ESP, Camilla Kemp :GER, and Nadia Erostarbe :ESP all still in contention in repechage (R4). France, Portugal, Israel and Germany are the favorites for the quota here.
Asia: Shina Matsuda :JPN is the only female athlete currently in the main round (R4), with Mahina Maeda :JPN, Yaomei Wu :CHN, Amoro Tsuzuki :JPN, Siqi Yang :CHN, and Vea Estrellado :PHI all in repechage (R4). On the men's side, Reo Inaba :JPN, Rio Waida :INA, and Kanoa Igarashi :JPN are in the main round (R5), with Taichi Wakita :JPN, and I Ketut Agus :INA in the repechage (Repechage 5).

No more Asian and Oceanian surfers on Main Round, but they have already guaranteed the quotas for their continents.

Now, we gonna have a cutthroat battle for the European quota. :NED:FRA:GER:POR are still on main round, and with a possibility of an extra quota at stake
