Last poll of day 1 is done & dusted. Thanks for voting and for COMMENTING!!!

JUDO - W -48kg

1. Natsumi Tsunoda JPN

2. Shirine Boukli FRA

3. Julia Figueroa ESP (T)

3. Abiba Abuzhakynova KAZ (T)

No medal for Funa Tonaki JPN due to 1 athlete per NOC rule.

Silver for Boukli as "any other" option.

First medal for the hosts in our polls here.

JUDO - M -60kg

1. Naohisa Takato JPN

2. Yang Yung-wei TPE

3. Enkhtaivany Ariunbold MGL

3. Giorgi Sardalashvili GEO

FENCING - W Epee Individual

1. Rossella Fiamingo ITA

2. Marie-Florence Candassamy FRA (T)

3. Choi In-jeong KOR (T)

Second silver for FRA.

And first win for ITA.

FENCING - M Sabre Individual

1. Aron Szilagyi HUN

2. Maxime Pianfetti FRA

3. Colin Heathcock USA (T)

Third final in-a-row lost by FRA on day 1.

I think this is very unlikely.

I mean, if FRA athletes advance to 3 finals on day 1 in combat sports, I think at least one of them will win gold.

But it's also very possible that 3 medals for FRA on day 1 is too much, not gonna happen.

Bronze for the New Kid On The Block.

SKATEBOARDING - M Street

1. Gustavo Ribeiro POR (T)

2. Nyjah Huston USA (T)

3. Mauro Iglesias ARG (T)

So that's it for day 1,

that was fun.

No gold for FRA though :nopompom:

And no medal for POL... :nopompom::nopompom::nopompom:

But looking at this schedule I think any medal for POL on day 1 would be a bit surprise for me. Biggest chances: W Epee Individual and Shooting Rifle Mixed Team imo

Thanks again

I know it's too early to vote, but it's just for fun. A joke, you know.

@phelps first Italian gold for Rossella Fiamingo. What you think? I mean, I know it's too early to say, but anyway... possible???

@kungshamra71 first gold for POR. What you think? Is it possible? Is he known and popular in POR? Will he get Page 1 Photo if he wins this thing???

I seemed to have missed the poll, so let me do my predictions down below:

Women’s Judo -48kg:  Gold- Natsumi Tsunoda :JPN, Silver- Assunta Scutto :ITA, Bronze- Shirine Boulki  :FRA, Bronze- Julia Figueroa :ESP

Men’s Judo -60kg: Gold- Naohisa Takato :JPN, Silver- Yeldos Smetov :KAZ, Bronze- Yang Yung Wei :TPE, Bronze- Giorgi Sardalashvili :GEO

Men’s Fencing Sabre Individual: Gold- Aron Szilagyi :HUN, Silver- Maxine Pianfetti :FRABronze- Luigi Samele :ITA

Women’s Fencing Epeé Individual: Gold- Rossella Fiamingo :ITA, Silver- Katrina Lehis :HUN, Bronze-  Marie-Florence Candassamy :FRA (Another Hungary/Italy/France fencing podium, how unrealistic

not completely out of order, but I'd would be surprised if it actually happens.

I'm not even sure she's going to be among our 3 starters in that event.

p.s. if France don't make the podium (maybe even the gold medal) in men's Street Skateboarding I'd be really shocked.

Also, just noticed a mistake in the men’s street skateboarding poll. Ryan Decenzo is Canadian not American.

People here giving us a medal in skateboarding and I have literally no idea who that guy is or if he has achieved anything in his career

Btw is it not possible to vote 3/4 options per event?

It’s not possible.

but if you want, you can vote for one athlete and write about other athletes in the comments. It will be very helpful when there is a tie in the voting.

    • Congrats Diggins, well deserved! 👏   Too bad she fell on the last lap in the last race (as well as Karlsson also did x2).   For the future I would really like them to remove the bonus sprint points suring the race that almost makes more importance to the overall standings than the positions over the finish line. And get back to the same point system as the other FIS events. 30 gets points instead on 50, and 100-80-60... instead of this system. in this case Diggins deserves it and Sweden who of different reasons have missed pets of the season On purpose or not, does not deserve it. But it as it is now it may take 20 wins to catch up for one missed race (if the opponent is 2nd in each). Dahlqvist won the sprint cup without any individual wins (3rd overall) is one example of that.    There must be room to miss a race of any reason. If not, it Will not make people race more events, instead it might make skoters who already missed one weekend feel they are already too far behind so they light as well take less priority on the rest of the World cup season. Also skiiers who in Norway for example would be good enough for a top3 in the overall might not even be selected for many races due to the internal competition. Same for a skiier like Ebba Andersson who most likely would not qualify if she would be selected to go a sprint race. But she would still get a few points probably for rk 31-50, but because she would not make it in to the Swedish sprint team she Will lose a lot even compared to those who fail the sprint qualifications. Frida Karlsson another example, she would also probably have qualified most of the times but is most often not good enough to make the team. With more award to winning and making podiums and also less athletes scoring that would make it better I think. The scoring system in biathlon got some critics when they decided you have to count all races, but they at least increased the value of top positions meaning you could faster catch up a bad race/missed race, by a few podiums.
    • Great to see O’Connor on the podium again! Thats 4 major medals in the past 12 months (World Indoors x 2, Euro Indoors and World Championships).   Her strongest event is the javelin so she is going to continue to be a huge threat in the heptathlon this summer and she is still improving all the other events. Exciting times for her
    • Congrats to Diggins winning the WC in her final season
    • Call me mad, but it feels very strange to have made it all the way through a major championships without hearing how the results were going to lead to a slashing of funding for  sport.
    • Only Fabbri from Italy has disappointed and that's a bit concerning... In 3 of the last 4 major events (OG and 2x Indoor World Champ), he's performed significantly worse than he did on the entire season – he took bronze at the 2025 World Championships, but his result was also nothing special. His performance today is completely incomprehensible  (
