intoronto 4,254 Posted December 18, 2022 #66 Share Posted December 18, 2022 Canada won 14 medals here...1 less than 2021, which is remarkable as Australia did not compete last year. Canada was also missing its best male and female athlete here. Josh, rafalgorka, Topicmaster1010 and 1 other
JoshMartini007 2,227 Posted December 18, 2022 #67 Share Posted December 18, 2022 Great championship for Canada. Even on our men's side we are starting to get some depth, Ilya Kharun may be a person to watch. Now if only we can get some progress in breaststroke. The women's side is getting better, but on the men's side it was backstroke specialist Javier Acevedo who did the breaststroke leg during the relay final. JoshMartini007 2,227 Posted December 18, 2022 #68 Share Posted December 18, 2022 Interesting story about Kharun He was initially going to represent at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, but it turned out he wasn't a US citizen and was actually born in . Unsurprisingly, Canada was quick to scoop him up. Hopefully he stays with us. Josh and intoronto

Canada was also missing its best male and female athlete here. On the other hand russian athletes and for example Sjöstrom didn't compete this time. The only real news for canadian swimming from this meet is that Kharun might actually become a medal contender in long course in the near future. Of course Canada had absolutely nothing to do with his development and basically gets all the reward while putting in no work. Canada should be in the mix for all relay medals on the women's side in Paris (possibly also thanks to the emergence of Ella Jansen) + 6-8 individual medals on the women's side (100 free, 200 free, 400 free, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, 400 IM) + 1-2 individual medals on the men's side. rafalgorka and dullard 2 Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.
