Biathlon IBU World Championships 2019

Impressive from Dahlmeier despite being completely out of shape, good position for the pursuit. Norway improved a lot on the womens side this season. The only positive thing is that they will never dominate on the womens side, otherwise biathlon would turn into another snoozefest like cross-country. Who knows? Maybe the fact that officials in cross-country skiing take the fight against doping more seriously than the biathlon officials will lead to more and more norwegian talents prefering biathlon over cross-country.

There's no anti-Norwegian doping fight in cross country though. They legalised Symbicort as the TRUE magic potion after Norway got their asses spanked in Liberec 2009. All the beef is anti-Russian. In biathlon their issue has been about shooting, if Tandrevold doesn't randomly blow 3-4 misses like Eckhoff & Olsbu then she could dominate like peak Tora Berger. Look at the men's side, once JTB started to hit 9/10 - 19/20 and not 7/10 - 15/20 he's unstoppable. Frode Andresen & Lars Berger would have seriosly eaten into Ole Einar's dominance if only they for once sorted out their shooting.

Interesting race, many misses by big names (although in the end the podium isn't that surprising), and good day for Sweden, even without any medal :)

As for France, that was a DISASTER  I'm not that surprised though, considering Chevalier already seemed out of shape yesterday, Braisaz and Aymonier almost always have bad shooting, and Bescond is not there.

I really hope tomorrow will be a good day for French biathlon. :fingers:

Okay, I'm starting to HATE the ES coverage. 5 skiers in and they go ad break then we listen to some USELESS expert talk... will we get to see anyone other than Top 15 names on the course/range? What is this CRAP??? :redcard:

@KirkpatrickWatch on Eurovision online. Same commentators but no commercial breaks :) If you’re in Poland you need a VPN but still https://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/

Yeah, France could be even bigger losers than Italy at these champs   Was it last season that Braisaz said she wants to be the BEST biathlete in the field? She's gone completely off the boil over the last 12 months.

1) At least Johaug and Sundby were banned, something we would never see in biathlon.

2) How is Tandrevold supposed to dominate? Its not like she is super fast in cross-country, more like a bit above average. Wierer, Vitozzi, Dahlmeier, Davidova and so on are all on the same level.

Yep, she started underperforming mid-season last year, and since then she hasn't improved (except that she shoots faster now XD)

    • Exactly. Recent developments of the construction haven't been particularly encouraging, and while they'll probably get everything sorted just in time, a lot of North American fans have been quite vocal about every minor inconvenience.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
