OCA confirm postponement of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games until 2023

Next year's Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Thailand have been pushed back to 2023 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been confirmed.

New dates of between November 17 and 26 in 2023 have been set for the event, which will be co-hosted by Thai capital Bangkok and Chonburi.

https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1114414/asian-indoor-martial-arts-games-2023

that was expected. this event was too big and not that important (I like it personally though) to happen in middle of a pandemic. I really hope we have a Corona-free world in November 2023. :pope:

but I hope we won't hear the same thing about the big Asian Games in 2022. China is still very cautious about everything and not sending athletes to lots of international events. @Vic Liu sorry to ask you again but is there any rumor or news about cancellation of the AG ? I know China is committed to host the WOG but that's easier to handle. AG is also too big with more than 40 sports. considering the situation in China how much chance we have to actually watch the AG next year in September?

There is no rumor that AG will be postponed or canceled yet. And I think with the experience of SOG and WOG the bubble would be functioned very well if the pandemic still exists that time. So personally I think the AG will be held as scheduled.

Tips from Indonesian National Games: If you dislike the judging in a boxing match, let a royal rumble begins

Looks like we need a ton of Indonesian fans to travel to all AIBA events 😂😂

Commonwealth Games have cut down mandatory events from sixteen to two: athletics & swimming. Another sign how this event is basically expendable in modern era. They can always go with "urban" events for kids and e-sports for teenagers? :p

Not a huge fan of this, they should have more core sports.

At the very least they need to have some kind of list of approved events or else we'll get random sports/events where only a handful of nations are decent at.

:ASA:AIA:ARU:BOL:CHA:GUM:ISL:LES:RWA:SUD:TOG hall all had their NUSFs declared inactive by the FISU for the time being, they will need to re-affiliate if they wish to participate at Universiades in the future.

Additionally, :KUW:PUR:YEM have had their NUSFs suspended for the time being, and have a year to figure their issues if they wish to remain affiliated

From last month’s EOC newsletter @dcro

Quote

The city of Split, Croatia has shown interest in hosting the European Games in 2027. A delegation from the municipality visited the EOC Head Office in Rome on 28 October to learn more about the leading multisport event for Europe’s best athletes. Led by Deputy Mayor of Split Antonio Kuzmanić, the Croatian group was interested in exploring the possibility of hosting the fourth edition of the Games in 2027.

The city of Split would already have all the sports facilities to host the event.

I dare @Olympian1010to find a multi sport events website with a worse quality than the Indonesian National Para Games site: http://178.128.82.134/home/medali:p

A few days ago there was something even funnier: results and live score (Hasil Perlombaan & Live Score) page simply says "Calling the Website Developer to Add The Results"

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
