However, times set on the mile can be used as qualifying time to the 1500m. Edited August 20, 2019 by wumo26 intoronto
hckošice 14,822 Posted August 20, 2019 #33 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Also our Marathon runner Tibor Sahajda (one of our 6 athletes qualified for Doha) decided to skip the WCh, the reason being obvious, the qualification for Tokyo. the next day is scheduled the traditional Košice International peace marathon. which is classified as SVK national Marathon championship and this can obviously bring him a lot of extremely valuable Olympic Ranking points, since the National Champs are the most counted for this ranking, clearly much much more than the amount he would gain in Doha difficult unusual night conditions. I expect many athletes skipping this by similar reasons though.

After a back injury in spring he simply isn't in good enough shape to participate and will focus on Tokyo.
hckošice 14,822 Posted August 31, 2019 #36 Share Posted August 31, 2019 Ján Volko sadly did not qualify for the WCh. Today was his last chance at the National League finals, 10.57 in 100m and 20.70 in 200m in very hot weather means he is officially out of contention for the world championships. So we qualified only 6 athletes to Dauha, but only 5 will compete since the marathon runner Tibor Sahajda announced already that he will not travel to qatar but instead of this he will run the Košice marathon (SVK national championship) with bigger chance to collect valuable points for the Olympic ranking. the 5 athletes for Dauha are if nothing else will happen Marcel Lomnický in Hammer M, Martina Hrašnová in Hammer W, Gabriela Gajanová in 800m W, Matej Tóth in 50km RW M and Mária Czáková in 50km WR W. Or that is what I think "Pan Europe" means? https://www.watchathletics.com/page/1718/iaaf-world-championships-tv-right-holders-by-territhory Edited September 7, 2019 by wumo26
