Men's Handball IHF World Championship 2023

I still can't believe how Norway threw away a secured win in the last 4 seconds. Like just hoof the ball towards the goal. Just throw it away. Fair play to Spain who punished them. I will admit I hoped that the game would go to the seven meter shootout. It also feels a bit better knowing we lost to two teams that are now in the semi finals.

If everything goes as expected, these seem like the likeliest OQT groups at the moment:

Tournament 1

:ESP World 2

:SLO World 7

:BRN Asia

:BRA America

Tournament 2

:NOR World 3

:CRO World 6

:CPV Africa 1

:POR Europe 2

Tournament 3

:GER World 4

:HUN World 5

:ISL Europe 1

:TUN Africa 2

This assumes that the direct qualifiers would be :FRA  :SWE  :DEN  :EGY  :QAT  :ARG

Argentina and Katar as direct qualifiers, I doubt.
and Netherlands is stronger than Portugal. But at ECH will much depend on draw.

With each match the Hungarian team proves that they shouldn't be in Paris. Iceland will probably get another chance to prove that they are a better team than us.

    • Exactly. Recent developments of the construction haven't been particularly encouraging, and while they'll probably get everything sorted just in time, a lot of North American fans have been quite vocal about every minor inconvenience.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
