Don't touch the race walking  It's the most technical discipline of the all athletics schedule, i really like it

Throwing events would be a better place to reduce something. Why throw a shot, a shot with a chain attached to it, a discus and a javelin?  

 

Or triple jump, what's the meaning of looking at who is the best at combining a skip, hop and jump?

And, in case of the 50km, by far the most heroic event. Even the marathon doesn't have this kind of going to the absolute limits of the human body, at least by the looks of it.
