It's a bad result but athletes are seeking Olympic qualification in both Volleyball and Beach Volleyball so Pan Ams shouldn't be the main focus. What they should do IMO is send only young players in both sports, maybe it would be a good experience for them.

This is our second national sport. We have 200 million people. It's impossible that our B or even C players are this bad.

I still can't accept this Maira in the starting lineup. She is the worst player I have ever seen (and this is not her first bad competition, she has received criticism at Barueri and the Pan American Cup).

And what I can't stand was the way that Zé Roberto treated Macris this whole competition, practically humiliations, many misunderstandings, all the time in her ear as if she were going to do some miracle with this team.

They really aren't, but they are the coach's favorite players. Some even talk about "Barueri card" (The coach uses the competition to rhythm his club players).

I don't think so, they have a chance in karate, after that they would have to win in BMX freestyle, but I'm not sure how that will go.

If anything, Cuba has a better chance at passing us.

The gold Canada won in archery certainly helps.  Cuba is in 3 finals in Judo, and they're 3 golds behind Canada.  I don't think they have any other real chances, so even if they win all of those Canada would still finish ahead of them I think.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
