:ALG inexpected silver in 800 m for Sedjati , this race of shame they put the  best one on line 8 because he didn't pay or because he is not pro-USA!!?  Finished 5 with the worst personnal time ... USA shouldn't host anything

Wayde van Niekerk won his Olympic title from Lane 8. The best find a way dealing with any kind of circumstance. :p

Exactly. Lane 1 is much harder, but still, if you're good enough to win, you can win from any lane. If you can't, you're not good enough.

Plus, like 'the USA' decides who starts in which lane. But yeah, we know who is saying it, so.... :p

Warner :(

That's the end of the battle for gold, at least hopefully. Hopefully, because if it isn't, that'd mean Mayer gets an injury, NM, fall or something like that, and nobody wants to see that.

Kaul still in excellent position for silver, but at least that is tight with Ziemek and Owens-Delerme now :d

If Mayer next throws are as bad as his shot put, he won't even be on the podium. It's very open IMO.

He basically lost just as much in the long jump as he did in the shot put (roughly 65 points towards the forecast). At the moment he can still give up 200 points towards the forecast and still be the favourite for gold. Both his discus throw and javelin throw don't really have a huge outlier in the forecast, giving up 5 meters in both of them still wouldn't bring him in too much trouble.

Personally I think the bigger danger will be the pole vault, where it will be harder to limit the damage considering his 5.45m.

Still, Mayer will need to underperform very strongly today and Kaul will need to step it up instead of performing basically exactly as normal. Owens-Delerme and Ziemek are already overperforming a bit and they need to keep doing that quite strongly (combined with Mayer losing a whole lot) in order to really make it tight..

This made me realize I hadn't placed a bet in a long while, and where I expected something very low for Mayer, I'm surprised to see odds of 2.50+, so time for a small bet :d

Spoiler

And for admitting my being wrong if it ends up wrong of course :p

Line 8 is tiring , you can't control the race in the begining , if you win that means you were doped ...they always put us in whatever the time is

anyway Moula is young , he will perform laters far from western cheaters

Sedjati is young too, early last year he had never even had a single official result and now he suddenly shot up to 2nd place in the world :)!

In 400 hurdles everyone runs in the middle of the lane anyway so the disadvantage of Lane 1 is smaller than in the flat 400m.

And then of course we have Marita Koch's 400m WR set from Lane 2
