Monzanator 4,181 Posted July 21, 2022 #441 Share Posted July 21, 2022 All the big throws came in the first two rounds. No wind towards the end so Feng 69.12 holds up for gold. Perkovic & Allman with the minor medals. Feng's previous PB was 66.00 from April this year

What's going on? Take artistic gymnastics, for example: not a cheap sport at all, and Brazil more often than not walks away from the World Championships with a medal. In the last 16 editions, Brazil got 16 medals, with 1 medal per WC in average. Usually, there are 14 events, with WCs the year after the Olympics only supporting 12 events. In athletics, we are nowhere close this number and there are way more events. One might argue athletics is a much bigger sport worldwide though, it's presumably simply harder to get anyone at the top. Plus success breeds success, so you (often) need good athletes to really get something going in terms of depth. thiago_simoes 1 If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Olympian1010 7,791 Posted July 21, 2022 #450 Share Posted July 21, 2022 Media 800m took place this morning. A lot of athletics journalists I follow/read took part. Still trying to find out who won “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair” - Nelson Mandela
