Well, :GBR only gets a decent woman’s tennis player once every 50 years or so, so I guess we were due.

But then we had six Grand Slam singles winners in the same era with Shirley Brasher, Angela Mortimer, Christine Truman, Ann Jones, Virginia Wade and Sue Barker winning multiple titles between the late 50s and 70s. That is definitely not going to happen again.

AMAZING MARIA! :GRE:clap:

She is guaranteed to go up to number 13 now even if she loses against Raducanu, will pass Eleni Daniilidou (number 14 career high) as the best Greek woman of all time!

One of the most famous Greek traditional/folk songs, played at weddings and other events like that all the time. The main lyrics mean "wow Maria, I love you." Very accurate for this tournament and also a personal favourite of mine :d

Also some Greek fans sing it during her matches.

Leylah

Canadian tennis is on a roll: Since 2014 Wimbledon, no other country has had *six* unique Grand Slam semi-finalists, with three of each gender
