Given the form in training :GER should easily win at least the monobob and the two-man.

I don't see how the training results make Germany the clear favorite in those events. Also Friedrich didn't look good so far, so Germany might end up without a gold in men's bob.

Like i said before: Neise clearly has the biggest potential on this track. If she wouldn't contantly make the same mistake, she already would have secured gold. I fear that her inexperience/young age will get to her and that she will maybe even end up without a medal. 2nd place for Neise and 4th place for Hermann (behind Bos) is a very possible scenario.

Or Latvia who cashed in during the Golden Age of Soviet concrete-pouring.

There was a time when :POL was the third global powerhouse in luge behind :GDR and :AUT . If luge was an Olympic sport in the 1950s we'd win some medals for sure :old:

We are still 5th in all-time World Championship medal table behind :GER :AUT :ITA and :RUS/ :URS  despite our luge tracks being in ruins for 40 years :p

This is a prime example why building a local sliding track is essential to having success in the sport. Same as velodromes in track cycling. I know it's very expensive and maintenance is high too but then you can have a bucket of medals at the championship events. Germany profits from the old :GDR days, they also added tracks in Bavaria and here we are some 50 years later Germany are winning everything left, right & center. And when they've won 3-4 golds it's deemed a failure. There are maybe five countries in the world which would say winning 4 golds at WOG is a failure :p

Which is interesting because Great Britain have won 9 medals in the Skeleton and a few Bobsled medals in its history and this country has no sliding tracks. How the heck does that work?

Equipment. The same way Alice Robinson having access to Lindsey Vonn coaching "know how" AFAIK. Equipment in luge/bobsleigh/skeleton also matters.

Well Lindsay Vonn had a Kiwi coach so there's that as well. But no I get you, hence what we are seeing from Naracott shouldn't come as a surprise as she is based in the UK and happens to be the girlfriend of Dom Parsons who won a skeleton bronze for GB.

Model railways. You know those miniature narrow-gauge railway lines at seaside resorts that have working steam engines that children can ride behind?  Well, exactly the same technology is also used for bobsleigh start tracks.  Just lay a few hundred metres of miniature railway & you have a world class loading facility.

    • They do have the by far best current Dutch NHL player though
    • Took a couple of videos, but completely forgot to take even a single picture and the file size of the videos are too big for Totallympics so I had to find a site to upload it to   https://streamable.com/ga23lv   Vibes at the game were good, place was loud, and I downed a $6 poutine from Costco before the game. Unfortunately, the game didn’t go so well, it took us a solid 45 minutes to actually start playing hockey besides some bursts here and there, and after coming back from down 1-3 we gave up the OT goal less than a minute in (Typical Canucks fashion), but  Lankinen stole us a point, they had so many solid opportunities on him and we had no business staying close.    Really mediocre start to the season for the Canucks so far, even with 11 points in 8 games, a lot of players not showing up (Petey, Soucy, Myers, Hög, Miller, DeBrusk, although for DeBrusk he’s been known to have a streaky game) and our power play and overtime have been fucking dogshit (power play has been like this for years). Shoutout to Garland, Hughes, Sherwood and Lankinen though they’ve been incredible so far
    • Hi I see this now. When is the draw? What do you need me to do?

    • Sorry, I was at work. Starting tomorrow thru Sunday is busy busy days here with Halloween, All Saints Day, Día de Muertos, so I might no be around the whole weekend. Good thing the final got postponed.
    • Announcement   It is with regret that I have to postpone the final till at least 10th November. This is not a fixed date and is likely to be moved to the following week. The delay is due to jurors not having voted yet and preparations on the final weekend still not having been completed. The draw is still set to take place tomorrow but there is chance this could be moved day by day until preparations are complete.    With this latest announcement @Gianlu33 and @LDOG if you would like to rejoin the contest with this recent change then you are more than welcome to do so.
    • While we're waiting, let me casually drop the music from the two countries I mentioned earlier. I wasn't sure if Mongolia has ever been featured in a festival of music segment, but East Timor / Timor Leste never has, plus I've been watching their English-language TV stations lately, hence the choice for both countries   Anyway, here's       And     I haven't decided on two other countries, but I'll get back to you on that
    • Haven't done this in a while.   Count me in, I'm game.
    • I just need you to pick 2 teams from each of my tables once I've set them up, should be ready to go in 15 minutes (taking longer than I thought) and hopefully by then more people will volunteer so that we can get things moving quickly.
