Luge at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

It's now been 12 years since :GER lost a luge race at the Olympic without crashing or making a major mistake, but that was close.

Feels like :AUT is unlucky to not win any of the events here given the season they've had.

Egle crashing during the first run was the reason why she did not get into the podium position.  She nearly got there.  Same as Julia Taubitz.  There is quite a rivalry brewing between Madeleine Egle and Julia Taubitz in the near future.

Absolutely. The Luge medal table does not reflect the season adequately. The team relay shows that the Austrians are very close to the best Germans in all events. E.g. Ludwig won because he were 0.05 sec quicker in every run than Kindl.

Btw Nathalie Geisenberger is now the most successful German Winter Olympic athlete in terms of Gold medals (6-0-1) right before Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (6-0-0), all three surpassing Claudia Pechstein (5-2-2).

Doubles are heavier (duh) so they are slower (less aerodynamic, more air resistance) ;)

That was quite a fun relay. Would have liked to see Austria win it, but mostly I was hoping for at least a tight race and despite Germany winning, it definitely was tight :d

Ya, this was a great advert of the relay as an event.
