hckošice 13,673 Posted June 23 #1113 Share Posted June 23 How it will work for countries without qualifying swimmer, zero OQT and zero OCT ? I assume FINA or however it is named will send us as always 2 nice universality invitations for a boy and a girl (at least i assume, correct me if I am wrong), but how they decide which swimmer(s) will be selected ? Does our federation have to send names of proposal swimmers from which FINA will/may select 2 or it is strictly on FINA decision considering the amount of starters in deifferent events ? Here is the latest Universality Report from World Aquatics. Every NOC is obligated to send the swimmers that earn the most points in an event. So for Slovakia, it looks like the two athletes will be Matej Dusa (Men's 100m Freestyle) and Tamara Potocka (Women's 200m Individual Medley) Adriano, MantaRaymarc, Josh and 5 others 6

Triplecast 129 Posted June 24 #1116 Share Posted June 24 Simone Manuel wins 50 FS in 24.13. Question - Since she is now in an individual event, does that open up another relay-only spot for US women (i.e. De Loof)?

Based on their internal selection criteria I don’t think they will use them. dullard and maestro
Topicmaster1010 3,081 Posted June 24 #1118 Share Posted June 24 (edited) US Olympic Trials: Day 9 Finals: Women's 50m Freestyle (OQT: 24.70) 1. Simone Manuel - 24.13 2. Gretchen Walsh - 24.15 3. Abbey Weitzeil - 24.26 4. Torri Huske - 24.33 5. Rylee Erisman - 24.62 6. Erika Connolly - 24.63 7. Catie DeLoof - 24.69 8. Maxine Parker - 24.90 Both Walsh and Huske weren't able to reproduce their swims from last night and that opened the door for Simone Manuel to get 1st place. Happy for her to get an individual event! Walsh was still able to get second. Men's 1500m Freestyle (OQT: 15:00.99) 1. Bobby Finke - 14:40.28 2. David Johnston - 14:52.74 3. Luke Whitlock - 14:53.00 4. Daniel Matheson - 14:59.51 5. Luke Ellis - 15:06.71 6. Charlie Clark - 15:12.60 7. William Mulgrew - 15:17.62 8. Carson Hick - 15:17.92 That's the fastest time ever done on US soil by Finke. With Hafnaoui likely not going to the Olympics, Finke will head to Paris as the favourite. Gutsy swim from David Johnston to hold off a charging Whitlock at the end of the race to make his first Olympic team.
