Have a problem with the current system of qualification - seems to have USA as the only team with more than 2 golfers (maybe Sth Korea also qualifies in the women's event )

The no 3 GB Australia  or Sth Africa doesn't make it in this system because they are not in the top 10

My alternative?

Allow minimum of 21 NOCs(=10 % of all NOCs) to compete (including host + all continents) with all countries having a golfer from outside top 100 in top 100 qualifying.

Max of 4 per NOC

There may well be more than 21 countries and some golfers outside top 100 qualifying. But not necessarily .

Don't see the point oh having a no 250 rather than a no 60 qualifying

Universality. The Olympics is not a World elite championship or a major, it's essentially an exhibition event to allow golf to sell itself outside its strongholds, a commercial for casual sports viewers - which is true of very many sports at the Games.  The Games are the one time many casual fans watch untraditional sports; the balance is getting enough quality to give the event Kudos, while reaching out beyond the normal footprint.

IF you just want to watch the top players, there are no shortage of tournaments to do so.

Bad example there for South Africa btw with their 3rd man being ranked 101st

Indeed even GB’s 3rd man is ranked 68th

The only players from inside the top 50 to miss out are from either the USA or Korea and 4 Americans already qualify.

All in all, that’s a decent system

Why doesn't Tyrrell Hatton count at 18? Can't be the fact that he joined LIV as John Rahm is showing as qualified.

    • awful... the track is as fast (slow) as in Hamar Meike Veen skated the same time in the 1500m and Serena Pergher did the same in the 500m I think by February it will be even faster
    • I like the concept of this Festival of Music! I will also share a couple of Christmas songs from Spain's TISC Open 2024 representative David Bisbal.   The first one 'Los peces en el río' (The fish in the river) is a flamenco/pop cover of a traditional villancico originated in the 1500s and the second one 'Todo es posible en Navidad' (All is possible in Christmas) was relased last year.   Los peces en el río   Todo es posible en Navidad   I hope you like them and have a wonderful holiday season!
    • you don't even have idea how it works   last week he was the best of the field and now he's in bad shape?   on Friday he was 24th despite 4 (4!!!!!) missed shots and Yesterday he suddenly went out of shape?   be serious!   he either just had bad skis or he got sick, like many other athletes (see Vittozzi)   the snow in LGB is usually shit, results are always heavily influenced by that and Italy is one of the teams that usually struggle a lot in that place   nothing new and nothing to be worried about
    • Don't look now but the Bears might actually win the division in Ben Johnson's first season as HC...
    • Festival of Music   For this year’s Festival of Music I thought I would change it up a bit. Since we are approaching the festive holiday season, I want you all to post some festive songs from your country. If you don’t celebrate Christmas then perhaps some other song that has a special place in your heart during an important celebration.     I’m going to start with a Christmas song from Ireland’s TISC Annual 2023 representatives Picture This.     Picture This - This Christmas
    • pair Danilova/Tsiba hasn't fulfilled the national criteria to participate in the Games but their skating federation has sent a request to the national olympic committee for an exception and to include them to the TeamNL. https://www.schaatsen.nl/nieuws/knsb-dient-verzoek-in-voor-olympisch-startbewijs-danilova-tsiba/
    • Juniors were there recently and the track was awful   Although that's not necessarily bad. Tracks don't all need to be fast, a slow track (like the horribly slow one in Poland) simply favors a different style of athletes. Training a lot there doesn't really give much extra advantage though, not like in sliding sports where of course as host country you make sure your athletes know every single meter a year before the Olympics.    And to get back on topic: speed skater Elisa Dul broke her tibia and fibula in a training fall yesterday and will obviously be out of the OQT and so the Olympics.
    • The PSL race in Davos was (yet another) insult to a beautiful discipline. The red course (which was actually yellow) had several holes and an exposed ice sheet, which made the athletes slide way too long, causing DNFs or massive time losses. The only positive note is that Caffont won despite racing on the more dangerous course in the final
    • Aerials WC Secret Garden     Mixed Team Gold-  China 1, (315.35 - Xu Mengtao, Li Tianma, Qi Guangpu) Silver-  China 2 (308.45 - Chen Meiting, Wang Xindi, Sun Jiaxu) Bronze-  United States 2 (272.81 - Kaila Kuhn, Ashton Salwan, Connor Curran)   Full Results
