I thought it might be interesting to see how the mood swings during these games so after every second day I'm adding a poll here.

Choose a number between 0 and 10 and share your feelings towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

It should reflect on your mood. It doesn't matter if it's about the atmosphere, the organisation, results or all of it.

If requested, I can also make the poll anonymous next time.

I love it because it's the Olympics, but the broadcasting on NOS is definitely worse than I'm used to. You can see they're struggling without multistreams because of the Discovery Plus deal. I hate that I have to pay 6 euros to watch (all of) the Olympics. I hate it even more that I'm not even getting good coverage for that money. Mostly without commentators or with terrible commentary. And I've literally had advertisement in the middle of a football game.

And then there's the coronavirus, which ruins the atmosphere, the broadcasting and even the sports themselves when contenders get infected.

I still enjoy it, but it's all a bit of struggle this time...

Eurosport < BBC, there's no fans, the time zone is not ideal and GB as expected are underperforming compared to recent games. But I'm still enjoying it a lot because it's the Summer Olympics

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

I think the atmosphere created by the not crowds is much better than expected. It is a lot less depressing than I expected.

Also, I am really just grateful these Olympics are happening at all.

Hard to really compare with other Olympics, because I never remember exactly how I felt 5 years ago, but I do know I am definitely enjoying the Olympics so far (like any Olympics, really) :cheer:

Building up quite a decent lack of sleep already, compared to my usual hours I think I've already missed out on a total of nearly 10 hours so far, but that doesn't take away the fun (yet) :d

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
