why that's surprising ? this is traditional music (not much active these days except for singers like him and his son) the poem/lyrics itself belongs to 120 years ago. some/most of those central Asian countries used to be a part of the bigger Persian empire. obviously you should see the influence in their culture.

I'm not much familiar with Arabic music but I think it mostly belongs to Lebanon and North African countries. not related to Iran at all.

I’m familiar with the general history of the region, for some reason I just expected traditional Persian music to be more similar to traditional Arabic music.

I love music like that as an art form, but I do see why kids might be more into modern music.

@MHSN Interesting, reminds me more of Kazakh/Turkmen/Kyrgyz music I’ve heard than of Arabic music.

Wow, I never thought I'd live to see the day on which Trump scores a positive point in my book :d Saying that when you're the president of a country where a nipple on TV is a reason to change 'live TV' rules and for people to go batshit mad because 'omg a nipple!', that's just pretty funny.

I know, it doesn't make him funny. At all. And he obviously is high as a kite since being admitted in the hospital.

I agree completely with you about the use of language. That’s why I wrote “big no-no in the US.”

I just thought that would help underline his current mental state.

From Trump’s interview on FOX last night.

Quote

“Look at where California is going to have to ration water,” Trump said. “You know why?” he continued. “Because they send millions of gallons of water out to sea, out to the Pacific because they want to take care of certain little tiny fish that aren’t doing very well without water, to be honest with you.”

I mean...what?

He is clearly mentally ill or high off his ass on something. He also said “fuck” during a live interview today, which is just a big no-no in the US.

This is from 2016, but it stills feels very relevant after that first debate.

I received my official mail-in ballot today. Like always, California has worked to ensure open, easy, and secure voting. All eligible voters at the first deadline to register were sent a mail-in ballot in order to be able to vote safely from home. Voters may cast their mail-in ballots in a multitude of ways. They can mail them in, drop them off at designated location (dropbox), or drop them off at their polling center during the in-person voting period. If you were to make a mistake on your mail-in ballot, you can go to your in-person polling center and have that ballot voided, and then be allowed to vote in person. All registered voters are also given the option of voting in-person if they wish to do so. Of course, you may not submit two ballots. There is no official deadline to register for in-person voting in California. You may register at your polling center on Election Day, or during the preceding election period.

There are 6 candidates on the ballot in California for President of the United States:

American Independent - Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente Guerra

Democrat - Joe Biden

Green - Howie Hawkins

Libertarian - Jo Jorgensen

Peace and Freedom - Gloria La Riva

Republican - Donald Trump

There will be 11 propositions on the ballot in California. 5 would be amendments to the California Constitution, the longest constitution in the world.

All Californians will be asked to elect a US House Representative, a State Senator, and a State Assembly Member.

I did read that the gap between when the UN accepted South Sudan and now, is the longest period in which the UN has gone without admitting a new member. I do believe that Bougainville’s independence will be recognized at some point in the future, but for now, no new members will be admitted. I heard rumors that one of the FSM states and one of the Solomon Islands will hold independence votes from their respective nations too.

Edit: Chuuk’s referendum has been delayed for a third time to 2022, so that vote probably won’t ever happen. The Solomon Islands issue is new, so it’s just a small political spat at the moment.

The season premier of SNL was a little bit of a let down. We do get, what I think, may well become an iconic moment in American television.

Chris Wallace claims that Trump arrived too late to the debate to be tested, and participated anyways.

Trump has been transported to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C.

It was reported that he was experiencing “mild symptoms” before being transported.

For now, the 25th Amendment has not been invoked.

Since when are debates about facts? :p

That, in and of itself, is an issue honestly.

In proper debate, both sides argue a specific issue. They both make arguments supported by facts/research. Speaking times are respected. Each side as allotted time to present their argument. They are then given time to question the other side about their position. Both sides then get concluding statements. No personal attacks are allowed. You aren’t allowed to go over time.

Biggest takeaway seems to be that Trump failed to condemn white supremacy, and then told the Proud Boys to “Stand down and stand by.”

Well...that went about as well as expected. At least they actually got to talk about some policy for a change, so that’s nice.
