  2. I like the qualification format. For team sports, there’s always going to be “top” teams that don’t qualify (look at how few European football nations can qualify for example). In rugby, the season long format ensures the best teams go through. Then they have a continental qualifier. And a final world qualifier. 3 chances for a “top” nation is pretty loose and those who don’t qualify can’t blame anyone but themselves
  3. 5. no, https://www.ittf.com/tournament/2954/South East Asia Regional Olympic Qualification/
  6. India for quite a long time has monopolised the South Asia qualifiers.... As we won a team quota in both men and women it really opens the way for our neighbours to really get into the Olympics for the first time.... I guess we may have some male qualifier from nepal and woman from srilanka
  7. BTW the entry lists for British Diving Champs are now available. Entries_-_Speedo_Aquatics_GB_Diving_Championships.pdf
  8. According to the selection policy, the individual champions will be selected - but to guarantee their selection they have to hit specific scores in both the prelim and final: Springboard: 460/480 for men and 290/310 for women. Platform: 450/480 for men and 315/320 for women. Don't think it's a huge gamble - I think with the possible exception of women's springboard, we pretty much know who is going to win each event - Noah Williams and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix for platform and Jack Laugher for 3m springboard. For the women's springboard, it will be either Grace Reid or Yasmin Harper

  10. Easier to say who definitely won't be doubling based on the confirmed entries for British Diving Champs/Olympic Selection meet: Tom Daley won't be going in the individual 10m platform I don't think he has competed individually since his return, so this isn't a huge surprise. Anthony Harding isn't entered for the individual springboard event and neither is Scarlett Mew-Jensen so unless they apply for a late entry for the British Champs, they won't be doubling up either. For what it is worth, the winner of the individual events at the British Champs will be guaranteed selection is they hit required scores in both prelims and finals. The second sport is essentially at the discretion of the selectors with performances from Doha WC and the Diving world Cup being taken into account.
  11. Yeah, I read about it. Really nice to see several countries making their Olympic houses for the first time. Do you already know where is it going to be located??
  12. Yes will get an Olympic House for the first time https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/ril-ioa-to-host-first-ever-india-house-at-paris-olympics-2024-11658931558986.html
  13. Ovidiu Ionescu si Bernie Szocs s-au calificat in proba de dublu mixt la Jocurile Olimpice. Ei s-au calificat datorita clasamentului mondial.
  14. There's another round of the challenger before Madrid isn't there? So the teams aren't yet decided for Madrid, if I'm remembering correctly.
  15. Difficult to be certain given that it will be based on results at the trials but apparently Tom Daley won't be competing in the individual event so he won't be doubling up. Others like Spendolini-Sirieix and Laugher are certain to if they meet the selectors requirements. Even teams with full quotas - and that includes China - rarely take a squad of more than 11-12 divers and I'm sure that'll be the case here, so 4-5 will likely be doubling up. There are a few divers like Tokyo gold medalist Mattie Lee who are out with injury so there's some diminution in competition although he competes in 10m platform where GB has a lot of options anyway.
  16. I mean a 20 team tournament would literally be 4 groups of 5. Top 2 in each get to the QFs. Not that hideous a format. I'd have no problem with a 24 team tournament either. Obviously neither is going to happen with the IOC being what it is.
  17. The surprising part was that Kenya was probably in a en even worse form going in. They're starting to rebuild with fresh players. Format would be hideous. Go for 16, or 24 like WC or old HK but stop trying to mirror the broken 15-a-side game. And this is definitely out of the question in the Olympics.
  18. Japan is definitely going backwards in 7s. They recruit Simon Amor and give him mediocre players to build with. They'd have dominated this Challengers head and shoulders a few years back. Now they're even ousted before the QF. Again I don't agree. HK should have won the Asian Qualifier but they're renown chokers. Chile could have beaten Uruguay too. Actually we'll see in Madrid how both these teams rank compared to the USA/Spain/Samoa/Canada.
