A Guyanas boxer qualify for semifinals in boxing, all the countries in the south american games win at least a medal.

Well, at least we have the excuse that we are missing half of our starters.

Well, they wisely picked a year. But they can get better during summer and try to "peak" for World Champs. Like, to pass the first round would be enough. I see younger generations are even worse

    And will this be yours?

That would be certainly huge. She already made it at the Europeans and European Games, the WCh and OG AA Finals are her big dreams, But there still a lot of work to do for her to achieve that. From what I noticed she is a very humble and hardworking girl, but sometimes at big events struggling mostly mentally, but it´s a typical and common issue among Slovak athletes, the lack of mental coaches in our small teams is IMO one of the main reason why our athletes fails often at big events, even if they are very well physically trained and prepared.

Nice achievement. Slovakia has come a long way since Ivana Kováčová and Mária Homolová. Mokošová is much better and it's possible for her to reach the all-around final at the World Championships.

Couldn't agree more. With literally hundreds of events to go, they've picked only 4 sports to award medals today. Disappointing.

finally, we did see some fencing, too... but I expected a lot more in terms of atmosphere...the theatre was almost empty and even the lights, the background and all surroundings were not that good... missed chance, imho...they could have done a lot better...

Yes, you are right, Piasecký won in 2006 a World Cup event, so it should be the 2nd ever win in a international let say semi-major event. but clearly it´s the biggest success of SVK women´s gymnastics since the independence

I was looking for this topic so I could tag you and literally ask this question, and then I saw your comment. Certainly first gold medal ever for Mokošová, but what about Samuel Piasecky? He competed for over 10 years, so I guess there's a good chance he must have won gold at some point. EDIT: If the automatic translation is right, the article on Slovak Wikipedia about Piasecky states he won the gold medal on the parallel bars at the 2006 Maribor World Cup.

Bice tesno bas. Nista tu nije sigurno.

    A) I respected your Mediterranean Games B) the level is actually about par with other international games C) It been around since before the Pan American and South American Games D) It gives smaller countries an opportunity to compete on a big stage and win medals E) It helps countries qualify for the Pan American Games F) to turn your words back on you “if you don’t like sports games why are you here?”

Be that as it may, I'm not much of a fan of people who decide to cheat. Better just end the relationship first.. Oh well, obviously we're not them, but this whole story smells of sadness on all sides.

Kuhnle actually managed to take a medal after winning semifinal. That's so weird! No medal for Slovakia again.

At least in the administration of the federations we are not very different. In Brazil we have bad management and corruption. However, in terms of financial support we're still at the peak, with more than 6,000 athletes receiving government allowances, but this should decrease in the coming years.
