  1. Because he’s speaks for athletes. He’s not arrogant. He actually enjoys speaking with and engaging with his fans. He brutally honest about what it means to be an international athlete. He’s a champion of clean sport. He does have some down sides (he’s not the greatest race walker, he can be combative at times), but he’s one of the most genuine athletes you’ll meet. He’s one those athletes that acts like a normal person, and doesn’t pretend to be above everyone else. He models behavior that is good for young athletes to see.
  2. What the hell happened? This reaks of internal problems. Poland winter sports are fricken dismal when it comes to management right now.
  3. Well, they will never be official medalists since Panam Sports does not recognize them as such. It’s a fun piece of history, but that’s about all it will ever be probably.
  4. Even if Eventing was held, it seems likely that it has never been counted as a official.
  5. @dcro @Griff88 There’s no mention of Eventing being held at the 1991 Pan American Games in the official results. The medal tally also does not include Eventing (as only 4 groups of medals were awarded/counted). There’s also no mention of Bermudan athletes on the official entry lists.
  6. Y’all were the Australia of the Pan Arab Games
  7. Well there’s no contest. Iceland was clearly the winnner.
  8. Remember deadline to submit events for inclusion is May 31st. We haven’t gotten too many proposals yet, so I’m a bit worried about this. We fell about bit behind on tests, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to test events on Thursday and Friday this week.
  9. I just finished watching it last month. It was still just as enjoyable as ever. Unfortunately, Korra isn’t available on any streaming platforms I have currently. In other news, Netflix’s live action series of ATLA has been seriously delayed due to Covid
  10. Ooh, Softball tournament is going to be top class. I guess I’ll have to make a few visits to that venue if I get my accreditation.
  11. Again, not all people on the left feel that way. I totally agree that the Democratic Party has lost any high ground it had on the issue. I still think that we should encourage people to come forward with information, details, and experiences of sexual assault is a good thing. The metoo movement did a lot of good. Plus, it empowered woman, and made people more educated about sexual assault. Obviously it got ultra political and unfortunately hyper partisan, but I think going forward, more people will feel confident to say when they are a victim or rape or not their sexual abuse.
  12. In defense of Panam Sports and World Archery, the America’s are rather strong in Compound archery. We have a good amount of top ranked archers, and we’ve done well at the World Games. I do wish that they’d figure out a way to bring Bowling and Racquetball back.
  13. Let’s be honest, we can all be happy that Canada won. I mean look at the joy it brought you maple people. Canada Hockey Place (I don’t know the current name) is one of the few venues I didn’t have the opportunity to visit when in Vancouver. The Richmond Oval is amazing though.
  14. That was fun. It at least gave me something to watch for a few minutes.
  15. Just came here to post this
  16. I think the biggest issue that journalism has been tainted from within, and from outside. The biggest issue in journalism is these giant “media” companies that aren’t actually here to report facts, but rather sell information. Companies like FOX for example aren’t even filed as editorials, they are filed as Entertainment companies. Of course the government has no issue with them passing off as news because they agree with one of the two major parties. Plus, they bring on mostly political pundits (and this goes for MSNBC, CNN, etc.) that just talk crap. Those aren’t actually journalists. The proper is the definition of what is a journalist has become blurred.
  17. I absolutely refuse to consider NY Times fake news. They might have a slight bias people don’t like personally, but they are very much legitimate news. They score under fact reporting and reputable on all media charts.
  18. Well, you’re on the right track.
  19. Which is absolutely what a good reader must do. I will agree that CNN is turning more into a tabloid (like The Sun, or The Guardian). However, their reporting on events like terrorist attacks, or other live/breaking events is generally some of the best reporting you’ll get from the ground (think CNN Turkey during the Coup attempt). It’s the one reason I haven’t completely just binned CNN. Also, most liberals hate CNN too. If you want liberal viewpoints, head over to MSNBC. My parents watch that crap for hours. I generally get my news from WaPo, LA Times, NY Times, Axios, Quartz, Vice, The Verge, Reuters, and WSJ. So I do tend to like news that favors my bias (like everyone mostly), but I do also read stories from the “other side.”
  20. I’m sorry but that’s just simply not true. Journalists job is not to brainwash people. Now many journalists might have an objective to their story (I.e I run a story about how there haven’t been enough Covid tests in Nevada (that is completely factually correct), with the hope that Nevada then starts testing more people). I will absolutely agree that CNN’s and Fox’s editorial standards are low, but Al Jazeera and BBC have a high rate of factual accuracy. You can believe what you want, but I always defend journalists who themselves to the proper standards and higher. I know of many reporters who would die inside if they purposely had to run, or accidentally ran, a “fake news” story. I would also like to point out that “skewed news” and “fake news” are two different things. WaPo and WSJ both have a clearish skew, but they still engage in completely factual reporting. A good reader should get their information from multiple perspectives in order to truly info themselves on an issue.
  21. One last chance to see if anyone recognizes this.
  22. is now a member of the ISU (for speed skating) according ITG.
  23. I was going to mention that, but it doesn’t matter in this race. I think Qatar is the better of the two (it’s generally regarded as the “most liberal” of the Middle East powers).
  24. I want to start a petition to reallocate all the California conservatives to North Korea so they can see what real tyranny looks like. If being asked not to meet in groups, or go to beach or movies just for a few months to protect the public is their version of tyranny, then they’re going to be in for a real shell shock in North Korea.
