Not yet, but Brazil will have a competitor in two World Cup races (finishing = points and finishing in the top-100 is enough for more than one point) and at the World Championships Brazil should be able to score some points as well, considering there are three athletes, two of whom might compete in more than two races including the team sprint. Until today there were 27 nations in the ranking, today's competition added Spain, Turkey, Lithuania, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. We can assume at least Kazakhstan will get ahead and stay ahead with the senior races, but that means there's still space inside the top-30, which is what Brazil needs to have a shot at qualifying two women for Beijing 2022.
-
Impressive qualifying by Niilo Moilanen, leaving everyone at least 5 seconds behind him and only the top-11 within 10 seconds. Excellent 8th place for Jaume Pueyo . DNF for Tuuli Raunio in the women's qualifying, that makes one worried when that happens in a sprint. Maria Iglesias made the cut by 0,03 seconds, cool. Meanwhile, the likes of Lithuania, Turkey, Mongolia all scored a single Nation's Ranking point per athlete, so they're not a threat for Brazil as of yet.

Tiny start list and now already postponed if not cancelled. What a start to these championships.

There's already been a big no for natural ice marathons, presumably there's no way the Elfstedentocht will be held even if we have four weeks of -15 degrees. I also kinda hope it won't be, it would suck so bad to have an Elfstedentocht with no spectators....I'd rather keep on waiting for a rare chance to have a real one, with hundreds of thousands of people standing on the side of the canals at 4am.

First significant snowfall in one or two years and probably the first time in 5-6 years it actually will stay around for at least a week (forecasts are for it to not be over zero degrees until the end of February, including during sunny days ). And the best of all, @brunamoura just finished a session of some fun and actual cross-country skiing right on the street in front of my house! Literally on the evening before going to Austria for the season, timing could not have been better. Despite (of course) using her oldest and most shitty pair of skis, wrong poles, wrong gloves and not having any kind of prepared track, she said she felt great

Cross-Country Skiing FIS World Cup 2020 - 2021
heywoodu replied to hckošice's topic in Cross-Country Skiing
FIS mixing up the teamsprint semifinals in their PDF's again, why on earth is it apparently so incredibly hard for them to get it right in specifically the teamsprint? It's wrong and all mixed up every single time -
The paddock of the track at Termas de Rio Hondo has basically been completely destroyed by fire

They were not much in shape anyway I hear. Run three, Nolte just made a big mistake in the bottom and Meyers Taylor could pass her. However, halfway in the run Meyers was already behind Nolte in terms of split times, but John said "this is where she can catch Nolte....but she doesn't!". No, because the splits were compared to Humphries, not to Nolte. She was definitely catching up on Nolte in those last few corners.

Martin Haven calling Evan O'Hanlon an Olympic champion over and over (and even 'an Olympic champion at the Paralympics', ffs) is the biggest disappointment of the season. It's such a show of disrespect towards Paralympic athletes when people don't recognize them as Paralympic greats and call them Olympians or Olympic athletes...that just sounds like you're not taking the Paralympics serious in any way.

Dominik Paris won the Garmisch downhill today. Which is promising for tomorrow, since 8 of the previous 9 wins he had before today were part of a two-day double
-
Simon Geschke rightfully pointing out that weirdly enough the absolutely moronic finish in Poland is apparently still fine, despite years of warnings and a near-fatal crash last year.

That's just being smart, because China.

Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022 News

But this isn't new at all....it's basically been public knowledge since forever -
And if governments decide that people should be more masculine or feminine I thought Das Reich was mostly gone
-
Besides, this story would obviously not be surprising at all even if completely true. I don't think anyone would be surprised if Trump has been played for decades by the KGB

But isn't Baselga impossible as long as it's outdoor? I mean, I thought it had to be an indoor venue, like that's one of the prerequisites. Having outdoor skating at the Olympics would be awesome and every outdoor rink that's being turned into an indoor hall is a knife in the heart of the sport (looking at you, Inzell idiots, you messed up something so wonderful) but it seems...unlikely.
