Not at all, we deserve to be out but due to the game against Egypt.

your commentators, they are neutral for sure😂

same like ours said, he didn’t touch him 😂

Denmark is not playing well this WCH. Croatia is not in a good shape and you did not manage to win easily, for me that is a indication that you will not be a contender for gold.

Where am I saying that the Danish commentators are neutral? We have one commentators pairing who are sore losers blaming the refs very often. As a former ref I really dislike them. The ones commentating the match against Croatia is usually much better,  but they twice they wanted questionable reds. One could be given, the second certainly not.

Really hard to say how Denmark will do. They've had one proper test and that one certainly wasn't at the expected level, but it wouldn't be the first time we've seen one bad game on the road towards the gold. I guess we'll see against Egypt. Right now Sweden are my favorites,  but it's pretty close in the top.

He didn’t hit him in the face as that idiot pretended. He did hit him, a relatively normal hard foul, but for sure not on purpose. He refused the apology.

karma is a bitch, Denmark will not win this tournament. I think Sweden, France and maybe even Egypt and Germany are better teams. Unless the refs help you again as so often.

Pretending to be hit in the head? Did you even watch it? I've seen it quite a few times as I felt at first that it was BS that Danish commentators wanted a red. It was not a clear one, but the refs should have checked it.

As ever so often? Oh come on! That's some sore loser BS!

The referees made a huge mistake in the last 10 minutes when the Denmark player scored a goal after obvious 4 steps ,and when Ivano balic protested the referee gave the bench 2 min suspension ,I'm not saying Croatia must have won if the referee didnt make that mistake but when the game ends in a draw any ball could have made a huge difference.

Best game in the tournament till now though and had a world cup final vibes.

The refs made some pretty bad mistakes both ways. Not their beest match!

  4. Getting closer and closer to know what I'll go for. Right now I'm mainly considering about 1½ week from the start. Would be something like:

    27th: Rugby

28th: Mountain bike (possibly trying to return for some beach volley)

    29th: Undecided

    30th: Rowing

31st: Triathlon and possibly the late swimming session

1st: BMX (possibly some badminton or judo before)

    2nd: Golf

    3rd: Equestrian, jumping

4th: Beach volley (and possibly some badminton)

    5th: Athletics (both sessions)

I may try getting a track cycling ticket which might mean staying for the full duration. Could also throw in some handball if it fits in.

Paris 2024 Quota Simulation: 2022 Data Edition

Hey guys, if you were around during the 2022 Winter Olympics, you may remember that I made some team size predictions for each nation. I am pleased to say that I will be doing them again for Paris though not as often (because simulating 2,900 athletes is much easier than simulating 10,500 athletes). Over the last month, I've been gathering data from 2022 World Rankings and World Championships to try to see what each NOC team could look like in 2024. There are, however, a few things to note.

    • Russia are NOT INCLUDED in this simulation. Due to the current situation in Ukraine and a lack of participation by both countries, I have decided to exclude them.
    • North Korea is also not in the simulation because I have no idea what's going on with them
    • Refugee athletes aren't included either
    • Tuvalu is currently projected with 0 athletes because there was no athlete that was unable to qualify in any sport under the simulation. If anyone has any idea what they could qualify in, please let me know.
    • Internal qualification procedures (e.g. Netherlands, New Zealand) are not taken into account.
    • Simulated universality eligible NOC's are marked with an *
    • Unfortunately not every quota was able to be filled up. Some sports didn't have enough data to fill in all the quotas. Some sports had athletes take up multiple quotas. And then there is swimming where the IOC decided to make the qualifying standards so hard that after the final number of athletes was still 100 short of the maximum number of quotas.

Despite the absence of Russia and Belarus, the quotas went down drastically from over 11,300 to 10,500. This means that we expect each NOC to have their team, on average, reduced by 8% of their 2020 size. In total, 113 teams had decreased in size, 25 stayed the same size, and 66 increased in size. Each team's change in size is shown next to the NOC name.

So without further ado, let's get started. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. I plan to make another post with some analysis and other statistics about this simulation.

    :DEN Denmark: 106 (+2)

    (Archery - 1, Athletics - 6, Badminton - 9, Sprint Canoe - 5, BMX - 1, Mountain Biking - 3, Road Cycling - 6, Track Cycling - 7, Equestrian - 5, Golf - 4, Artistic Gymnastics - 1, Handball - 28, Judo - 1, Rowing - 7, Sailing - 9, Shooting - 6, Swimming - 2, Table Tennis - 1, Tennis - 1, Triathlon - 2, Wrestling - 1)

Impressive job though I do have a few doubts.

    Who qualifies in archery?
What sailing events do you have us qualifying for? 49er, 49erFX, Nacra17, Ilca6, women's IQ foil and?

Swimming feels pretty low as well though we do have some problems there. But I guess that's a question of how last year was.

    Believe me i'm not

i just think that Sweden ,Norway , Island and Germany r all in the same level which is very good and all of them in a good day can beat Egypt but it should be considered an upset, just like if Egypt won one of the top 3 i mentioned.

Fair enough. Would just say that quite a lot of experts have Sweden among the main contenders, at least in front of Spain and close to or above France as the main challenger to Denmark (have you seen what a beast Jim Gottfridsson have been lately?). Egypt shouldn't be underestimated but at least Sweden are in front of them by quite a bit. Norway as well if they manage to pull things together.
