  2. my ideal situation is a bit different...
  3. Russia have 21 days to appeal the 4-year ban to CAS... and they will surely do it... therefore, nobody really know how to deal with this ban until at least CAS have done their job (and then it's always possible another appeal to the Swiss Federal Court)... it's gonna take quite some time before we have a definitive word on this situation...right now, it's a good thing to take time and wait without taking any option off the table...
  4. USA, yes... France, basically yes, even if it's not mathematical Italy, not at all...there are 4 teams (ITA, KOR, HKG and RUS) for 2 places...and if both KOR and HKG end up in 3rd and 4th place, one between ITA and RUS will stay home (as it's true for the opposite, if ITA and RUS both make it into the top 4, then 1 beetween KOR and HKG have to watch the Games on TV)... and this fight will also have implications on the European and Asian continental spots... it will be a close fight until the last competition of the OQP...
  5. according to today's results, this is the projection of the Olympic Qualification Ranking... 1. 372/384 2. 288/300 3. 228 4. 220 5. 216 6. 212 7. 187 8. 183 9. 181 10. 178 11. 155 12. 137 13. 131 14. 122 15. 116 the fully updated ranking will be available here as soon as possible... https://tokyo2020.fie.org/ranks?weapon=F&gender=M the USA are more and more safe into the lead, with only France keeping the pace... Italy are making a little step ahead of their main rivals for the 3rd and/or 4th place, as did Korea by edging Hong Kong out of the top 4... Russia, however, are getting closer and closer to the top 4... for what concerns the other continental spots, Egypt are safe in the top 16, meanwhile Canada are losing ground and now they are dangerously close to the 16th place line (and Brazil couldn't take advantage of today's big chance, as they also missed out on a place in the top 16 in Tokyo)...
  6. Women's Individual Sabre (Salt Lake City, USA) Final Results Gold: Olga Kharlan Silver: Qian Jiarui Bronze: Manon Brunet & Seo Ji Yeon Semifinals: Kharlan b. Brunet 15-9 Qian b. 7. Tokyo's Team Finals (Bronze Medal match running right now, Gold Medal match to follow immediately after this)
  8. Men's Team Foil (Tokyo, JPNY) Final Results Gold: France Silver: United States Bronze: Italy Semifinals: USA b. Russia 45-34 France b. Italy 45-27 Bronze Medal Match: Italy b. Russia 45-38 Gold Medal Match: France b. USA 45-39 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://liveresult.fencing-jpn.jp/prince-takamado2019/team/FTEvent1245184.htm
  9. it's Italy...they are a farce...that result doesn't mean anything for Poland (except for the always useful 3 points), because we're not a serious opponent (division IIA here we come!)...
  10. the great day of the Italian Foil, triumphing in both of today's events (and collecting 4 overall medals in 2 competitions)... finally, the negative streak is over! Alice Volpi eventually came back to success after the shameful world champs and first event of the season...and also Martina Batini is back on the podium after quite some time (about 1 year ago)... and hopefully it's a great anticipation of what we're gonna see in a few months also Foconi's success in Tokyo in the Olympic Test Event... on the other side, just another unwatchable outing of all our women's sabre specialists in Salt Lake City...no one of the National Team regular members could go beyond the round of 64...
  11. Women's Individual Foil (St.Maur, FRA) Final Results Gold: Alice Volpi Silver: Martina Batini Bronze: Lee Kiefer & Inna Deriglazova Semifinals: Volpi b. Kiefer 15-13 Batini b. Deriglazova 15-14 Gold Medal Match: Volpi b. Batini 15-10 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://fie.org/competitions/2020/118 Semifinals & Final Replay
  12. yeah, men and women's singles are already in the bag...tonight at 10 p.m. CET it's time for the open doubles (we can't say "men's" anymore, I guess ) and then, after midnight, the sprint races will wrap things up for this week...
  13. it was all changed 2 days ago because of a snowstorm and the weather forecast for the weekend (preparing a slalom course is easier than setting up a GS and the track is obviously shorter)... then earlier today they announced that tomorrow they will still try to save at least the slalom race (there's no way a GS course can be set up under in this week's weather conditions)... by the way, forecast is not good for tomorrow, too...
  14. Men's Individual Foil (Tokyo, JPN) Final Results Gold: Alessio Foconi Silver: Maxime Pauty Bronze: Daniele Garozzo & Alexey Cheremisinov Semifinals: Foconi b. Garozzo 15-10 Pauty b. Cheremisinov 15-10 Gold Medal Match: Foconi b. Pauty 15-5 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://fie.org/competitions/2020/137 Semifinals & Final Replay
  15. World Masters (Qingdao, CHN) Day #3 Recap Final day of action in the 2019 Judo season with the Netherlands main protagonists... in fact, they won 2 out of the last 5 titles to be awarded this year, thanks to Michael Korrel (men's -100kg) and Tessie Savelkouls (women's +78kg)... Japan, after dominating the fiorst couple of days, today only had to be satisfied with a single Gold Medal, won by Hisayoshi Harasawa in the men's +100kg class (which, once again, was a "no show" by the losing finalist, Lukas Krpalek )... the last 2 Gold Medals, instead, went to France (Fanny Estelle Posvitè, women's -78kg) and Georgia (Lasha Bekauri, men's -90kg)... thanks to these results, Japan won the medal table with 5 Gold Medals, followed by the Netherlands with 3... after the 2 most successful Nations, other 6 Countries ended their campaign with 1 Gold medal each: Full Results, here: http://www.ippon.org/masters2019.php Day #3, Final Block replay
  16. Blondin wins again the 3000m, beating Sablikova by almost 2 secs...
  17. official version: slight injury sustained during the previous match... most likely: those who didn't show up in the final matches were already happy with their result and the points scored in the OQR and, feeling tired, didn't want to risk a real injury/a bad loss, so they took the silver with joy and came back home... to my memory, it's the first time that 2 gold medal matches are not contested in one single session...and tbh, it's a real shame... p.s. today we have 2 Dutch fighters in the Gold Medal matches: Michael Korrel vs Aaron Wolf in the men's +100kg and Tessie Savelkouls in the women's +78kg (and there's also Henk Grol facing David Moura for the bronze medal in the men's +100kg)... live right now on Youtube
  18. and they were only just over a second outside the fastest time of that race (1.6 seconds outside the track record, which is even more impressive) and Natalie Corless was also 10th in the women's Nations Cup... unfortunately for her, she's not part of the official Canadian team and won't be able to start in the actual women's singles world cup race, despite being faster than 7 of the qualified girls... p.s. nice to see Emanuel Rieder back with the Italian team after this Autumn's injury (and it looks that the -almost- new doubles combo with Simon Kainzwaldner is also quite promising, already faster than the supposed no.2 Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner...and actually, they won the NC race )...
  19. World Masters (Qingdao, CHN) Day #2 Recap today's main news are Saeid Mollaei's debut as a Mongolian representative (more about that in the previous post) and the shame of both men's Gold Medal matches that actually didn't took place at all, with the eventual winners just getting a nice Santa Claus gift... Japan obviously continued their domination, winning 2 out of 4 awarded Gold Medals thanks to Soichi Hashimoto (men's -73kg) and Nami Nabekura (women's -63kg), finally taking her major honour at the Masters after 2 consecutive losses in the big final in a row in 2017 and 2018...and doing it against the reigning world champion, Clarisse Agbegnenou... then, today's remaining Gold Medals went to Belgium (Matthias Casse, men's -81kg) and the Netherlands (Kim Polling, women's -70kg...defeating Sanne Van Dijke in an all-Dutch affair final)... no need to say that because of these results, Japan strenghten their lead in the medal table with 4 Golds, meanwhile now the Nations with "only" 1 Gold medal won are 5: Full Results, here: http://www.ippon.org/masters2019.php Day #2, Final Block replay
  20. well, I saw that match... he lost against our very talented (but still immature) guy, Christian Parlati, who actually quite dominated the fight, even if as usual he took too many risks and almost threw the victory away once he got ahead by a waza-ari... luckily, his mistake only cost him also a single waza-ari and so he finally could make up for that by throwing Mollaei on his side once again for the second waza-ari (awasete ippon)... here's the match Parlati vs Mollaei...
  21. what a farce of a track in Montafon! 20 secs or so...2 light turns and a long straight with a few woops... it's not even worth the time watchin'...
